The bumper and window stickers were very funny. The VW guys seem to take their lack of forward progress in stride... I saw many interesting stickers related to slowness (is that a word?).

You Californian Vdubbers have it all--it's disgustingly unfair! We do have a couple of really nice shows in New England that draw about 300-400 cars air- and water-cooled, and many smaller ones. I've always wanted a 1970 Karmann Ghia convertible on Fuchs wheels, but I had to cure my Porsche-envy first since I already have two VWs. We obviously don't have shows in the winter, but I don't know if I'd go because I'm exhausted from showing my cars by the last big one at the end of September! Again, best of luck with your new Bug!

Looks like a great find. Unmolested and well cared for VWs are getting harder to find. Have fun with it!

I've always been passionate about these simple cars. Here is my current project...http://s381.photobucket.com/albums/o...20Restoration/

Wow!!! It'll probably be too nice to drive when its done. I like the fact that the wide five pattern is being retained. More pictures when its 100% please!!!

Thanks. I'll update pics as build progresses.

I must admit, this one is going to be a trailer queen for a spell. Motor is pretty pissed off, so it will still only be good for local outings.

Default 1958-69 Volkswagen Beetle

I thought you Vee-Dub guys might be interested in the recent Market Data:
Long live the classic Air Cooled Cars !

1958-69 Volkswagen Beetle

Classic Volkswagens are the perfect affordable classic - easy to take care of and easy on the eyes. In fact, when Pinin Farina was asked to update the VW Beetle for 1958, all he said was "make the back window bigger," which was his way of saying the original design was essentially perfect. Nowadays, nice examples are climbing in value, and the days of the $900 "good runner" are fast disappearing. The cars are well-built and parts are everywhere, so how can you go wrong? (Unless you're idling in freezing weather, as any skier will tell you.)

I thought you were struggling with the idea of lowering it - I see you have gotten past that! I guess these things must be unable to keep reasonable camber on the rear when lowering.

Since this seems to have become the thread to post V-dub pics on, here is my car with a cool Chistmas-colored cousin I saw the other day.
