Hey Martin, welcome on board with the build.
There is definitely a possibility that we will compile a build book in some form or another once the car is finished.
Rear KW's fitted this morning, so the Speedster S will be on our Hunter 4 wheel alignment centre sometime later this afternoon.

It now gives me great pleasure to announce the following to which you are all invited:
9m93 Speedster S Launch Day
Saturday 1st May 2010
from 10.00am to 2.00pm
at Ninemeister, Warrington
We will definitely have some of the other 9m project vehicles on display (including JJ's new 9m Vespa) and will turn this into a bit of 9m open day.
It would be nice to know the numbers coming so we can provide the appropriate refreshments, hence if anyone does want to drop in for the day please let me know via email and feel free to pass on the invite to any of your Porsche friends who would like to tag along as well.

Not sure those living on an airport flightpath would agree. You never know though, maybe enterprising estate agents aroung Heathrow and Ringway are now making a quick killing?

Hi Colin,
thanks for the welcome and great to hear that lunch is imminent.
I can't do the trip from Melbourne to the UK although it would almost be worth sitting in a plane for 23h to see this work of art in the flesh.
I hope someone is going to do a video of the procedings and post it on Youtube or similar?
I trust the photo side of things is going to be covered ;-)
Best regards
Martin

The first stage of chassis alignment is now complete.
We borrowed a pair of seats to balance the car out which are the slightly heavier part electric rather than the designated plastic back sports, but the extra mass probably compensates for having no door panels fitted (waiting on Marc sorting out the central locking). Robin first set the ride height, then did a full 4 wheel geo before finally checking the cornerweights which is good enough for now.
Once the car is finished we'll do another alignment & cornerweight check with a full tank of fuel after the suspension has had chance to settle.
As to the finished weight - would you believe just 1320kg (2900lb) with an empty tank? Not bad considering the last two cars we weighed were a 996GT3RS and a 997GT3RS which came in at 1390kg & 1410kg respectively.

Hi revolution993,
it was made by Strosek in Germany in the 1990ies for the 964 Speedster. it came with my car when I picked it up in Hawaii last year.
i was very lucky, I suppose.
You can still buy replicas on ebay every now and again for around US$ 3000.
Best regards

MC has finished the central locking installation today and is now working on the finishing touches to the doors to fit the 993 door panels & handles. All that is left now are the seats....
.... and wheels. Apparently we're still waiting on Graham's final decision!

My RSD kit has the lock and the solenoid, but is missing the wiring harness and I have no idea how it plugs into the central locking system

(P.S. I think this car needs flame graphics as well as the Vespa

A few more details which have had to be finished before the weekend. Robin is seen here leaning into the rear deck fitting mounting brackets for the new Speedster side panels, and here's the result of the last two days of Marc's work after he has made & fitted the central locking system, modifying the inner door frames to fit the new 993 inner door panels and modified the speaker housings that would have been cut in half by the drop glass movement if left standard. We've also been bug chasing the electrical systems by replacing blown lamps in the dash & tracking the tiptronic indicator lamp fault to the interior light relay (don't ask!).
Incidentally don't get excited about the GT3 wheels, these are from Marc's RS and have been fitted to keep the Speedster mobile whilst Graham's originals get "de-blued"....
