+1 on Pano or Excel write-up idea.

A favorite thread (gave it it's own filter) for the last month or more.

A major accomplishment for sure, much to take pride in, a job well done!
Thank you sir. Bringing the RL crowd along helped me a ton, there was definitely a mutal benefit.

My two favorite rags are Excellence and European Car. I wonder if they might have interest in a project like this

Hmmmmmm

Thanks for sharing all of these great pictures and information. O/T: Specialized Epic with down tube shifters! That bike brings back a memory. My first road ride/group ride (circa '96) was on that bike which I borrowed from a friend. I was hooked after that ride. Your 1200GS brings more memories.

Great job with the drop!

Your welcome Shane! The bike in the pic was not mine but I'm glad it brought back good memories.

The back drop is in Rocky Mountain National Park. We road mountain bikes up the Fall River Road (gravel road with limited one way traffic) to Trail Ridge Road and the descended down Trail Ridge Road to our starting point. The ride was 32 mile and about 4000 feet of vertical gain. The highest point is around 12,200 feet so altitude plays a factor. Total trip time with lunch on top was 3:40 hrs.

The GS is another story

Default Test Drive tomorrow!

Tonight finished assembly of all the remaining parts;
  • bumper
  • fender liners
  • misc plastic bits

The only thing left is to install the rear wheels and lower the car off the stands. I know you guys are thinking why don't i just finish it tonight and drive it. I want to be fresh and on top of my game when the tires hit the road.

What concerns me Bob.......is that you've ripped you whole car apart and now you're finished, your garage is cleaner than my kitchen after I've cooked sunday lunch!!!

I need to take a few lessons from you in orderly working practice.....

Well done, great thread thanks again for documenting

Default The Maiden Voyage

I got up early today
  • Installed the wheels and torqued the lugs!
  • got her warmed up and made sure the oil level was right
  • then I went up the hill, my test road is so steep and twisty (Flagstaff Rd for those who care) I never really got out of 3rd gear.

First Impressions:
  • Everything appears to work correctly, holy crap!
  • no strange noises
  • the noisy lifter is gone
  • No weird flashing lights!
  • This thing flies out of 2nd (LWFW)
  • the clutch is way light
  • The rs motor mounts seem to stiffen up the whole drive train
  • shifting is very crisp

I am sooooo pleased.

A big thank you to all my advisors and supporters

I need to get her fluffed and buffed. I'll post some pics later.
