That's quite a diverse logbook there. Have a good run to China.

I'm not a pilot, not even close (I'm an optometrist), but I have an appreciation for planes. The only experience I have is when a friend of a family friend took us up in his Cessna and let me fly it for a few seconds. Anyway, I saw this pic and have to ask what it is. I think it is my favorite plane, the 747-400, but I'm not sure. So is it?

One of my clients went from flying a Falcon 50 to a Challenger (he's happy to have the position), and calls it a "truck".
It seems like the Falcons (and Gulfstreams?
) are the Porsches of the corporate jet world?

PPL. Rotors and Planks. Opted to go work for a software company 18 years ago, instead of being a plank driver, but I'm working on the RW commercial, so I can fly tours when I "retire" in 5 years.

I've heard the Gulfstreams handling is very truck like. The Challengers/ Globals are supposed to be much nicer to fly than the G also.
I like the analogy for the Falcon. Lighter, less power, engineering at it's finest. They say what Gulfstream does with sheer power, Dassault does with finesse. I've only flown Falcons (10s, 50s, and 900s) but it sure feels like that's true.

Well, looks like my days at DHL are numbered. They just announced they are shutting down domestic in the U.S. 10 years flying for them and no idea what I'm going to do now...

I flew A300's for DHL... quality function was not up to the job and most insiders did not care much to rectify the problems.
However, your situation sucks... good luck mate!!
If you can find a corporate job on some heavy iron, you would be surprized at how good the lifestyle can be.. very best to you.

Thanks Jean-Pierre! Yeah, we ended up with 5 or 6 A300's but I never did get to fly one. I've been in the DC-8 the whole time. Corporate is definitely something I've been thinking about. I flew Lears for 3 years for a pretty good outfit years ago. Been tossing around the idea of paying for my own Gulfstream rating and trying to get in to doing contract flying. Met a guy down in New Orleans clearing customs about 12 years ago that was in to that and really liked it. Who knows, I might even end up getting out of aviation completely...

Good luck, Ron.
You are probably tapped into an employment service already, but West Jet's had a pretty good year (I don't know if they're hiring). You might want to check with them.
