Default PSS-9s vs. RoW M030

My 993 C4 Coupe has PSS-9s that were installed about 4 years/20k miles ago. The car is my daily driver and I am getting battered.

I want to convert to the RoW M030 (possibly with Bilstein HDs) set-up, or possibly H&R springs with HDs.

Will the RoW M030 set-up be noticeably more compliant, or roughly equivalent to my PSS-9s (at full soft)?

You may want to consider the M033 springs with Bilstein HDs. Softer spring than the M030. I've never run the M030/HD combo, but several people here on the board will probably tell you that the feel is similar to PSS9s at full soft.

Harry, your ride is still too stiff with the lowest PSS9 settings (i.e. 9)?

My car had the US 030 springs (which IIRC have the same rates as ROW 030) before I installed PSS9's. Yes, the 030 springs are noticably more compliant. Most definitely.

p.s. PSS9's at full soft is not a good setting. You need to run them at 7-8. A lot of people, including me, have seen visible porpoising of our cars at 9 setting.

I can't compare directly w/ PSS9, but my ROW M030 w/ Bilstiens is pretty stiff over rough roads. The only time I really notice it, tho, is when I have a passenger. It doesn't bother me most of the time. It's my daily driver, too.

If H&R springs are anything like the H&R coilovers on my car, you better have the fillings in your teeth tightened up. They are great on the track but not real nice on the street. I will probably go to PSS9's so I can have a softer street ride, and the ability to dial in firmness at the track. LOL.

I agree with the M033 option. I have access to a turbo with PSS9s set up at 8ish for street and I find it a tad softer than my HD/M030 setup.

I had RoW M030 (springs and struts/shocks) before my PSS9s and they were stiffer than the PSS9s at full soft. Maybe like 7, or between 7 and 6, two+ clicks from full soft.

Um...no.

Vancouver has the equivalent of fine Chinese rugs for asphalt in comparison to LA or Houston. The streets around where I hang my hat in LA are a gnarled mess of cut-and-cover scars from sewer work that sometimes exceeds and an inch and a half in depth (!!!!!). I'm tempted to check to see if my wheels are cracked every time I come home. Not good times.

I'm fixin' to slap the PSS-9s on as well. My hope is they're a little (re: a lot) more forgiving than my alternatives.

I have the M030 setup and it is pretty rough ride. I did have H&R springs on my 95 (stiff, but slammed look) and the M030 is a much harsher ride. Can't comment on the PSS9's.

I have the US M030s with 9 & 11 X 18 inch wheels = harsh ride. Recently drove a narrow body 993 with H & Rs, and the ride was a lot more compliant. Perhaps the wheels have a lot to do with it.

I find my factory M030 setup tough as nails. It goes like a go cart around bends, but on cobbles, oh boy !

I've been very happy with the ride of US M030 springs and Bilstein HDs. Decently controlled and very comfy. I am running a fairly light 17" wheel/tire combo though. With Yoko or Bridgerock 18s, it might be a lot crashier.
