I had a 77 targa that creaked when the suspension was incorrect and I hope that this is the case with the 993. MY low miles C2S creaks a little in front, but I know that one of my monroes in front is leaking and when I get around to it I would like to check tlhe four corner balance. I'm too poor currently to do the suspension experience. I had a 964 that never creaked and I hope that porsche didn't economise on the frame.

My windshield creaks, but I've gotten used to it enough that I don't notice most of the time.

Can anyone here advise on how/where to get a "proper" windshield installation that would remedy this? I'd be glad to get some new glass for visibility, especially if in doing so I got rid of the creaks too.

Every 911 I have ever owned has creak a bit but while driving at speed we normally don't hear it over the road & exhaust noise.

My 993 flexed and popped the lower left winshield seal during some very spirited driving so I put in a titanium strut bar, now it only creaks at the rear sway bars but the windshield still leaks at the left corner in the rain, guess I should have it resealed, but then again we don't get that much rain here.

Effectively all the creaks, groans, graunches, etc were exorcised from my car after visiting every bolt in subframes, crossmembers, and mounts with a torque wrench.
The lower right windshield squeek comes and goes .... and is a friendly reminder that this is a 993.

I only get one noise from mine. A slight creak that sounds like it is coming from the top of the driver's side window or maybe the windshield when at speed on bumpy highways. It is a very hard sound to trace, I thought it was coming from the light assembly above the driver's door for the longest time.

I had a creaking front windshield after moving back to Florida. I purchased some grey tubular foam from Home Depot (reference other write ups on Rennlist) and installed it around the front window. Cut out at least 90% of the creaks and groans from the windshield. I wish I could say my KLA strut brace fixed it, but I can't. However, the brace did wonders for the steering feel and it was fun to purchase and install.

Now if only I could figure out that squeak from the rear deck with the windows down? Any ideas out there?

I have heard that Porsche used to use a lubricated rope around the front windshield, but redesigned
the window installation process to eliminate the rope for the 1995 model and on. Perhaps the rope
reduced the creaking sound.

Cool You want to eliminate creaks???

Install a full roll cage, voila, no more creaks!

This is a great fix without having to use chemicals to lubricate the seals. Porsche also sells a grey foam cord for this purpose. Works great!

I get max torsion on my car when I enter a driveway at an angle -- I know this because the inside front wheel is off the ground

<<As many of us know, a properly installed windshield can make all the difference.>>

Not so much, in my case. I had the windshield replaced about a year ago AT THE FACTORY. After being not so politely reprimanded by the service manager for having Pedro's in there, I was given the privilege of paying roughly DOUBLE the normal price for a strip and repaint of the whole windshield frame area. (Plus side at least was that they took care of all of the surface rust under there, so I don't have to worry about that for a while.) They used the latest and greatest parts and techniques, yet the windshield STILL creaks.

I just ignore it now. Just part of the experience.

Peel back the outer seal and have a look for this grey foam cord. If its not present, get some and stuff it in there. You'll be amazed!
