Nice! I see you also went with the Euro TT bumper...my cab is getting the same setup as well as a rear Euro bumper.
What is the wattage of your PIAA driving lights? Any modications required of the wiring harness or just plug-n-play??

O.k., 12 pages later . . . I've heard enough. Just placed my order for the HIDs and a set of the halogen foglight upgrade. Thanks for answering my questions and taking the time to organize all of this!

They are 35Watt H3 bulbs...just connect the wires and basically that's it.
However, I cannot take credit for the upgrade. It was Bill (ZCAT3) who did it first and I just followed his foot steps.

Before installing mine I used a piece of wall board to draw with pencil the beam pattern (parked car 15 feet from it with lights on).
I then swapped units and had another go. The beam pattern did not alter one bit (unlike the H4 install in my VW !).
I also compared them to genuine Litronics with both our cars parked side by side facing a wall. No difference that we could see.

Now, if the Porsche had factory reflectors, and you had a choice to goto projectors.. I might have to consider that seriously.
And yes, the HID capsule puts out less heat than a halogen. As far as fog goes, I do not know what the factory wattage is (35?) but you woul dhave to be careful in going too high on the wattage there as I do not know how much heat the housings or harnesses can take. For high beams, you could goto a higher wattage bulb, but the same concerns exist.

The HID bulbs are generally all 35W, so produce less heat and draw less running current than the 55w main beams. HTH.

John.

BTW, to address 2 of bet's concerns:
Litronics igniters are mounted to the inside of the headlight access cover, so obviously there's no issue re: heat or vibration, just whether or not they'll fit. If so, a very clean, factory oem install of the Catz kit is possible - i.e., no cuts in the housing, headlamp removal procedure unchanged (no wires to disconnect), no components in the fender, & indistinguishable appearance from Litronics except for a different ballast.
In aligning 993 headlights the interior lamp housing (inside the headlight) is moved. If that movement is restricted, alignment can be affected.

Anyway, at least you got it right eh
I doubt both parts of the Catz system will fit within the light housing, although you may be able to mount one of them in there.
If I could be bothered I could go take a pic of the Litronics sitting in a box in my garage.
Its dark, and its raining though, and its time I was in bed. I also have a feeling that there is a pic in my folder that I posted a link to yesterday.
Cheers,
John.

With this conversion, I'm assuming that the stock highbeams are retained. My experience w/ a friend's acura, is that the high beams still put out more light than litronic low beams. I've always hesitated on this conversion b/c I do most of my night driving where I can just run the high beams most of the time, and in the places where I can't, the streets are lit up mostly any way. Are these assumptions correct?
Thanks,
David

The kit should have no effect on your high beam function.

I am OUT of stock until the next shipment comes in. The first 10 here I will try my best to get out Friday. The remaining 8 will go out the following Friday (If there are no delays with inbound shipment). All new orders after 18, will have to wait at least until the week after that. You can place your order now and guarantee this pricing point. After Saturday, the pricing will be back to normal.

may i ask why you are backing away from your original commitment? assuming new buyers are willing to wait until you get additional inventory i (and probably others) would like you to maintain your original commitment to this community (which was to keep the offer open till 3/12 - wednesday week from today).

Great DIY instructions, but I have two questions:
What did you use to cut the 1" hole in the protective cover?
Is the silicone or rubber glue really needed or just a recommendation?
Thanks -Skip

If people do not have a problem with waiting, I do not mind.
I just dont like to keep people waiting for too long. Sometimes it comes back to haunt you. You think you are doing people a favor, but then they start calling their credit card companies, etc creating disputes, chargebacks, etc. These are VERY bad for a business as Visa/MC keep a close eye on it. BUT, since it is requested that I keep the group buy on, please note the below note before ordering. This will be my disclaimer on product availability and anticipated inventory replenishment.
I will keep the price good until 3/12, but for everyone ordering, BE ADVISED, you will be waiting. I do not have a definite inbound shipdate for the replensihment order past the 18 above. I WILL however keep you guys updated at all times in regards to the status of inventory and delivery of stock.
Your credit card will be charged and you WILL be waiting. So if you plan to order, this will be the scenario you face.
