I downloaded it and then opened b/c of the size. It works fine.
Thanks again for all your effort - The install looks pretty straight forward. I'm sure it will all fall into place once the HIDs arrive and I start the install.

For those without word. I've placed a pdf up on my site.
<a href="http://www.gtracer.net/docs/HID-DIY.pdf" target="_blank">http://www.gtracer.net/docs/HID-DIY.pdf</a>
it's about 30MB so you might not want to grab it if you are on dial up.
96P993 thanks for your efforts!!!!

Ok now that we have a operational set installed I have a couple of questions before I jump into this little deal.
1. Will the igniter fit inside the headlight?
2. What about removal of the headlight now? It appears from diy that the headlights will now not be as simply removable as before, but require wires to be disconnected before removal & reconnected during insertion?
3. Is there any interference with the ability to aim the headlights?
4. Does anyone have Porsche Litronics near 96P993? How does performance compare w/Litronics?
5. I'd like to see pics of the beam on a white wall so we can look for hotspots, bulb alignment etc. You really can't tell any of this from the pics of the front of the car.
I don't mean to sound down on this set-up (quite the contrary actually as I am excited about an affordable alternative to the Litronics and other more expensive kits), I just want to know what I am getting and my nature is to be very thorough in my investigation. Quality of light output is very important to me vs. the look of HID lighting. So if anyone can help me with these question I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Chris,
Just a quick note to thank you for all your efforts on our behalf. I printed out your DIY on our color printer and it is very helpful.
Just sent Eric an email order for the kit and a spare bulb.
Hope you didn't scratch your paint, man....

mike cap, I replied to you, but I do not see a need for a spare capsule.
Just for everyone's information, these capsules do not just "go out". There is no filament like a typical halogen bulb. When the bulb nears its end of life, the bulb's output will reduce. At 2000 hours, you are looking at approximately 70% output. You will never have one side just completely go out (unless the bulb explodes, or some kind of catastrophic failure occurs ; highly unlikely). Please be sure during installation NEVER to touch the glass of the capsule.

The first 10 orders will most likely ship Friday. Then I have to wait for stock to arrive sometime next week before shipping the remaining orders. Your card will be charged the day before the order is shipped.

Ok Brian I will try to answer all your questions
1)I never tried to fit the igniter into the headlight because of two issue, one is the bounce factor(with the moving of the car I would think it would possibly do some damage inside the headlight, second is the fact that the igniter has to be connected to the ballast which means cutting more holes in the back of the headlight. I wouldnt want to do either of these.
2) Removing the headlight is not hard. You simple pop the headlight out then dissconnect the three wires. It is quite simple to do.
3)The aiming of the headlights is done inside the front hood through a hole. I have not adjusted mine. I dont think they need to be but will check once I am done with my other project. I would think the owners manual will show how to adjust (nothing should change)
4)This one is a guess but I would say they are very much alike. Really the only differnece between the two would be the factory non factory issue.
5)I will take pics for you but you are going to have to be patient with me on this one. My car is on blocks right now so it isnt going to move. I am also very thorough in my research and I can tell you from my experience and the extra light output these thing put out, this is not a cheap set of blue bulbs that give that "look" of HID, this is a bonifide HID light kit.
I hope this helps...if you have more questions keep them coming.

For those who are interested in the HID foglights.....I have spoken with Eric and he says he can do $320.00 for the kit. We would need to get 5 people to do this in order to get this price. If you want to do this please email me, if there is enough interest I will get with Eric and he will get another coupon code. Email me at chrisbby@advantexmail.net
Thanks
