Thought the folks here would be especially pleased to see how much love a well-driven and tastefully modded 993 is getting on BaT. First day and it's already at $60K. Way to go, Indy_Jim!

With those miles it's almost like a new car. Can you buy a new car for the same money that is mostly hand made and offers the same kind of analog driving experience? Nope.

To my eyes, a car like this one is nowhere close to a new car. Mileage may be low, but for over 25 years all rubber parts (in suspension, driveshafts, fuel lines, tyres) have been aging all the same and will probably need replacing them. You'd be amazed how much time and money will be required to make it drive as it should.

That and old school fallacy that is totally dependent on the car not being stored properly and left to sit for 90% of it's life. Which is a wild assumption.
If a car is stored well and the mileage is gradual, it's just fine at 20K miles. Hell, it would be good at 10K miles. We aren't talking about 200 miles here.
You can't make a wild claim like that without knowing the vehicles millage history, maintenance history, and inspecting it.

I've seen others with similar mileage absolutely destroyed in comparison.

Yup. I've had a 1,250 mile 1991 Firehawk and now a 3,100 mile 2001 996R, both stored correctly and went thru a re-commissioning. The most they needed to be replaced were fuel injectors and a fuel pump. I put a new better set in the car and the ones on the bike were just cleaned. Both are even on original tires that show ZERO dry rotting. Everything else was just standard service items like every fluid and filter on the vehicle, including the oil in the shocks on the bike. Both were put on a dyno too to ensure they ran perfect.
So even in those two example that sat for YEARS and were not gradually run up slowly on the mileage, the items were minimal due to proper storage. That car I put about 250 miles on after the recommission and the bike was just done so has only done about 20 so far (not on the original tires of course).

Not to say anything negative but I looked at two cars from the seller of the targa this summer and they insisted they were all original paint Not a snowball's chance in hell. To the average eye they looked great but I could see the flaws and paintwork immediately. Low miles supposedly but hard to tell when they have had extensive paintwork. Just worked on a 993 TT for a friend. BaT sale and boy oh boy was the supposedly well respected BaT seller lying through his teeth. Nice enough car but wasn't as described. PPI
