For that Arena Red Tippy car with 99k... if you work the numbers backwards, you can see its value and also the vast separation when buying a "good" car out the gates. This also works in the other direction to see what is involved to get a car sorted in a premium way.
Let's say you have a C2S that's lower miles and in a desirable color combo, and that price starts at $140k.
-$30k for being Tiptronic (probably the cost to do a complete swap properly)
-$20k for 99k miles
-$10k for body mods and paint work
-$10k for Arena Red on Tan (subjective; versus another color combo you prefer)
-$5k for weird aftermarket wheels (price of Technology package hollow spokes)
You're already back down to $65k and we don't even know what else lies underneath with that car or what other stories lay hidden. It also doesn't have Sport Seats. It also looks like it was repainted, potentially, given the body mods that it has. Even if you went through with the transmission swap, it will never be original, regardless of the expense. If you want a Black interior car... well, same thing. You *could* go through the effort of changing its color, but you also can't.
I think this illustrates more of why clean cars command higher premiums in today's market more so than it does why that particular car is priced so low.

. I have a 991 with PDK and just got a 993 with Tip and frankly switching gears with +/- is quite fun. I am just 30, so hopefully I'll understand one day the beauty of manuals!Anyways, thanks fo the breakdown of costs. Learning more each day thanks to this forum, I feel enlightened!

Indeed! I saw those photos and comments I think on the listing and here about great photos.....great as glamour shots to sell the car the car not great for the buyer because you couldn't see the paint! Way too massaged to represent reality. Hopefully all else turned out well for the buyer.
In the end a paint correction isn't a big deal assuming there's enough paint to work with and nothing else of concern.

I have a Basalt Black car that I don't find bad. But maybe because it is metallic and not a true black. I wash it myself but not totally **** about process though I do take some steps.

I dont want to debate the value of mods or how they diminish the cars value. They are the right mods to most enthusiast. Curious what is the ballpark value of my car currently? Well maintained 1998 993 Carrera 2 S. This has always been a California car and I am the second owner. I have had the car for 7 years and has put 33k miles on the car myself. Car runs very well with no oil leaks. Need to make room for another car and I have to let this "classic" go. Would love to see this car go to another 993 enthusiast.
Odometer reading: 104,100 miles (1st owner had the odometer replaced 5 months after initial purchase, so actual mileage is slightly higher than this)
