Today I finally tracked a guy who owns a GR/black 1996 C2 I had seen driving around my neighborhood. He's owned it since new and it has about 95k on the clock, so well enjoyed. He said he's put about $40k into it, including a relatively recent top-end job.

He said he might be interested in selling it...IF none of his kids want it...or his P-car mechanic.

He said the paint is all original except the driver-side door, which he had to replace because of a snafu in his garage. He's also replaced the door straps.

Any sense of value?

This is a Wide Body thread ??? There is a separate NB thread as well for your post or do you mean C2S?

IMO sport seats are the most underrated, and under valued, differentiator between cars.
Nice result...could be the start of a new up swing.

I don't get it. This variant sold for $201,993 on 3/31/23 (21,000miles)
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...ra-s-coupe-14/

While this one sold for $157,000 on 6/21/23 (59,000 miles)
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...carrera-4s-16/

That's a difference of $44,993. Yes, there is a mileage difference, but the first one still has 21,000 miles and no US history.

Is a sunroof delete and 38k miles really a delta of $45k?

Apparently so …..which is bonkers! All it takes is 2 bidder in the room that want it BAD!

Personally, I don’t consider replacing the rear bumper skin in the same category as damage to the car’s structure or body. I’m sure some will. I think this pursuit of automotive perfection is going to be regretted 5-10 years from now. This wouldn’t change my bid in the least. Just my opinion.

Totally agree here. I bought a perfect 993 C4 Cabriolet 1996 in Atlanta and shipped it to Germany.
The carfax said it had an accident. It turned out the owner hit a piece in his garage. The right fender was repainted, that was it.

Agree 100% but will eliminate 50% of the buyers out there just because of the CarFax Ding.

True, that was my luck. The day I bought the car back in November 2010, the PC had just dropped the price from 34 K to 30 K due to the last day in November.

I drove it for six months and sold it to a collector.
It had almost all options, grand prix white on grey full leather includi d the dash.
It's probably worth double of what I sold it for.
