In the 993 sales section- under WTB heading. There's more WTB ads than sale ads right now! I think if you handle it well, most will tolerate this in the 993 tech forum too- just be specific and name your intent- if you're a flipper- that won't end well. Most people in the tech thread are long-time enthusiasts and while cars get sold from time to time, (and repurchased) most everyone I have encountered is really pretty cool and helpful with Q&A.

Default Paint thickness measurements

I was trying to think of the best spot to place this link. As this thread is related to buying and selling 993’s, I’m sticking it here. It seems like everyone buying a 993 now wants paint thickness measurements. I doubt they all know how to interpret the numbers. I sure did not.

I found the article to be well written and informative. Explains why horizontal panels and vertical panels can have different thicknesses even from the factory. I never knew paint colors impact thickness selected by the factory, Anyway, here’s the link.

Looks like a really nice car. Reputable dealership. It's been listed for a while (was originally priced at $169k a couple of months ago). The X option bits (shifter, gauges, etc.) are nice to have. California car nearly all of its life so that's great re: rust concerns. $150k is a top price with that mileage, especially considering the broader market softening overall. If you really want it, go for it. But, if it's not your dream spec, hold off purchasing for a bit and see if the price falls a little more. Have you gone to see it in person? How's the service history? Any mods? Paintwork?

Identical to my C4S. Red/Black. Even has same aluminum shifter and parking brake handle. Big difference is my engine /transmission just got completely rebuilt.

It's actually Red/Black... which is a great spec because most of these cars have non-Black interiors

If this was red/cashmere I'd be all over it, unfortunately the all black interior is a no go for me personally....thanks!

Ok. Well, they just dropped the price on the very car we're talking about by $20k. Would a Porsche dealership have done that 6 or 9 months ago? Or, did they maybe price it at the top of a hot market over the summer and then realize they had to reduce the price because the broader market has softened recently?

How about last week when one of the most well regarded 993 sellers on BaT (911r) sold his personal C2S with 44k miles and it barely cracked $140k. Do you think that car would have gone for more or less money earlier this year? There are plenty of other examples that bear this out, but I think you get the idea.

Special examples, collectors pieces, and/or super low mileage cars will always attract big money. But, your run-of-the-mill 993 (even a WB) is selling for less now than it would have earlier this year. That is not a controversial statement to anyone who actually follows the market for these cars. Good luck with your search @smyers528

All of the above is true and there are many factors that may be an influence.

That being said, is that not also true for every fall? I don't recall a time when sports car prices didn't soften approaching November

My personal opinion is if you wait out one year you will see these cars at significantly lower prices.
