For those that received Tramonts in the last few years…when installing OEM center caps, do the seem just a whisker to large in diameter and don’t positively “seat” in the wheel?
My set of Tramonts from 2013, the center caps snap in with such force, and sit completely flush…that they are difficult to remove.
The recent Tramont wheelset for my Boxster, OEM center caps…color matched to the gunmetal wheels, do NOT snap in completely, and do not sit flush.
Naturally I saw no reason to “test fit” them prior to color matching.
$175 caps, $125 to color match…$300 in, and I’m not sure that they won’t pop out while driving.
Gonna pull a wheel from the 911, and check the center bore for these recent cap fittment. Maybe the caps have subtly changed, maybe Tramont subtly changed that center bore locking groove.
Regardless…going on the Boxster tomorrow, checking overall fittment…then nailing down the suspension changes.

something changed in the center bore on the Tramonts. As previously mentioned, the OEM caps wouldn’t securely fit into the new wheelset. I pulled a wheel off the 993, Tramonts that were built in 2013. Forced(literally) the existing OEM center cap out, and tested the recent caps for fittment. They snap securely into place, and are the exact same OEM cap.
I was unable to use the micrometer to check for any difference in the two wheelsets center bore…but obviously something is different.
The solution to get the center caps to securely be installed in the new Tramonts…trim a portion off the back of the cap. I might have gained 0.5-1mm of depth projection in to that center bore…but they ain’t coming out. Slightly recessed also.
I sent details and pictures to Tramont last night about the issue. Again, these are OEM center caps, not something other.
Rough snip with dyke’s, flatten more with utility knife and rasp.
Crazy…

ha! thanks. i don't have that view but i know that i'm "out of spec" ...my ET is +6 "out of spec" and i'm running a 285...most run 265. i love the look so, between my wheel, suspension, and body guys...i'll get it dialed in...eventually.

Rear wheel above is same spec as yours, but on 265/35 and looks like its within the fender edge from this angle.
I am having a 10.5'' on the rear but cant decide on et62/61/60/59.
Guess if I go 62 and it rubs inboard, I can add a spacer shim ?

I think 10.5'' et59 is about 12mm out from a 10'' et65

yes, that looks on point and the business! if you have that many options with your ET then factor in the size of the tire you want to run 265, 275, 285. i won't go below 285 so i'm limited.

Ok, I love these wheels, don't get me wrong, but why such a strong fascination/following of this particular wheel? Is it the style? Deep dish? Weight/performance? Again, I love these wheels, but why does this one get so much love? We have another thread, showing off everyone's beautiful wheels, but seems like Tramont gets the most attention. I'm just curious what I missed here.

Tramonts are officially licensed Speedline RS replicas..that came on the 993 Carrera RS, as well as the 993 GT2. While historically accurate, and period correct for our cars…I like them cause they’re PRETTY.
