I think he is referencing the chubby half key that was around for 1.5 gens (991.1 - 992.1) and the single analog tach that was around for .5 gens (992.1). Both of these things are minor and irrelevant to the driving experience of the car. Im really excited for the base and the tuning potential that will come with it from utilizing the previous gen GTS turbo and intercooler from the turbo model as well as the larger breaks from the previous Gen S model.

And let’s not forget the SC timer since the 997 gen. Iconic. Lol and let’s not forgot the ethos !
I’m in total agreement with you. There are so many nice upgrades.
I just listened to the 992.2 portion of The Smoking Tire podcast and here were the highlights from Matt:
Hybrid system doesn't work with a manual
GTS has the best ride of any 911 model now with softer front springs
No more burble tune in any mode due to
No downsides to auto stop/start with hybrid system, which is a better *** implementation than 296 and Artura, given the smooth startup and accessories driven by battery now
Thinks that the S and Turbo will stay non-hybrid with manual option for differentiation from GTS and Turbo S, respectively
Confirmation that the manual doesn't work with the hybrid system doesn't bode well for potential manual S buyers given what @silversurfer6 wrote in another post.
I could see S as a detuned hybrid pdk only and T with the 3.0tt and manual, then if you want more power with a manual they upsell you on this rumored 992.2 manual Turbo or GT3. It's all just speculation though and sounds like it could go either way. I'm curious if there will be a way to get a 992.2 Targa with manual since it's currently GTS/hybrid only, i know silversurfer indicated the C4S will come later than the C2S and they did not launch a base C4, so I wonder if the Targa will remain GTS only or get 4S/4 variants like before later.
This actually makes the author look real dumb…because most of the haters are on rennlist, and there aren’t too many people that hate because of the drive or capabilities that are yet to be known. It’s more about the complexity, weight and reliability, resale etc. there is almost nobody saying it won’t be fun or joyous…
For me there are two main issues with the new GTS. First, no manual. Second, new engine and new t-hybrid motor. It's an early adopter car. No way am I going to be that guinea pig. In ten years when I'm looking for PDK/automatic, then maybe I'll consider something like this. I think it's an exciting car, just not willing to take that chance. Plus, no indy shop will be able to work on it when it's out of warranty.
these guys along with Matt tWatson are just paid clowns. The car is faster, the interior is basically the same minus iconic features, the exterior looks like a cheap tuner bodykit, and it's more expensive. It's a no brainer PASS. Don't need a YouTube to tell me that l.
I saw the 992.2 in real life yesterday. I usually have no problems getting used to a new design. But after RL made me aware of the plastic part on the rear lights I must say it looks way cheaper than the old one. I have some pictures for comparison which I will post in 2 parts. First some good parts.
Here are the comparison fotos which I think make the taillights way cheaper looking. The full glass was way more premium than this plastic. The underline is beautiful and suits the 992 design great but should have been clear/glass.

It seems to me that if the new Carrera engine has a single 992.1 turbo then perhaps that could be flash tuned to a power level equal to or better than the next S. We shall see @M-Engineering.

Sorry, I can't help but laugh when someone says that these YouTube reviewers are "paid" when they disagree with their opinion. They are usually the people who are the first to post up multiple YouTube reviews as evidence to back up one of their points when they line up.
The bottom line is that YouTube reviewers are no more paid than traditional print journalists were / are, and in this day and age, there is probably less tomfoolery going on because anything dirty is instantly outed. The problem is that every single reviewer, ever, is biased. No matter how hard they try to be impartial, their background, likes and dislikes will almost ALWAYS show through in their review. And in this day and age, that's not really even discouraged, and people confuse reviewer's "opinions" for "truth". The truth is that every car is a compromise, every car has it's strong points and weak points, and how all of those combine with your specific needs will greatly influence your opinion of the car. Like someone else mentioned, Mark from Savagegeese is a JDM boy at heart and loves free revving engines, turbos, and more pure cars while his counterpart Jack just really loves power and a balanced chassis and DGAF how the power is made. Matt from Smoking Tire appreciates a super fast car but is of the opinion that once it's fast enough to scare the hell out of yourself on the Canyons, anything more is really too much. And etc.
So no, these guys are not paid clowns. Most of the info they get is from the press kit and the shoddy ones just repeat that, but Savagegeese at least try to go well beyond that and interview people from the development team to get deeper into the how and why certain things came to be the way that they are. Others, like Matt @ Smoking Tire, don't do that, but either don't repeat verbatim from the press pack, or call attention to specific points that matter, or call BS where the manufacturer tries too hard to wave the marketing magic wand over something less than optimal.
The problem is that if you don't regularly watch any of these outlets and take their review as a first timer, you don't recognize their bias, patterns, or delivery style. Just like I read every episode of Car and Driver and Road and Track growing up and could tell you reliably how Paul Frere, Dennis Simiantis, Peter Egan, Joe Rusz, Csabe Csere, Pat Bedard, Brock Yates, Rich Ceppos, etc. would approach an article, so to does every YouTuber have their own style. Much of it is just crap, but the bigger outlets or more reputable guys do have a style of reviewing.
So the facts are what they are. The hybrid GTS is a spectacular technological achievement that is faster with less pollution and a small weight gain vs. the 992.1 GTS. Whether that particular formula is of interest to you depends entirely on you, but does not change what the car actually is.

Very interesting. Until the tuning shops get hold of it I guess we’ll just have to take Porsche’s word for it. Not being able to tune could be a deal breaker for some
