I think the “fake” part needs to be confirmed. If it is the tube allowing intake sounds, that’s fine IMO as it *is* engine sound. If it is through the speakers though, that would be a shame.
my 991.2 turbo s has the same tube , just an open pipe from engine to filter in noise . I blocked mine off as I have a loud exhaust
they open when brakes need extra cooling , engine is hot and sports plus mode , closed in normal driving mode and when rain is detected, according to hagerty’s latest video .
the car wow video shows the base carrera which is a bit bland but base Carreras usually are bland in appearance anyway
I thought PDCC was standard on the GTS, but noticed on more than one review mentioning it was optional and won’t be available until later. Did anyone else notice this?
Savagegeese said 3.6 doesn’t sound as good as 3.0.
im really upset about this…
Unequal-length headers, and also potentially (no info yet) OPF for the U.S. market. Also no wastegate sounds. But the sound is definitely deeper and more aggressive, just no characteristic Porsche flat 6 tone as you rev higher.

PDCC optional on GTS, will apparently start to be available in Nov iirc.

The current 992.1 3.0 liter doesn’t really sound like a 911 anymore. It’s muffled by the turbos, even with PSE, and is lifeless when compared to the NA engines of all previous models. As you rev it, it just sounds louder. You don’t get the dramatic tone changes of an NA engine revving.
The reviews I watched and read said the 3.6 sounds better than the 3.0. Matt Farah’s review had some pretty good recordings and I agree with him. But for my money the best engine sound died with the 991.1 or is still available in the GT cars.
what’s your take on the engine sound, silversurfer? Is the sound in the cabin piped through speakers?
Honestly i have no idea - in the videos it sounds good for me. I saw that one reviewer mentioned that the sound is amplified through the speakers - since only one person so far mentioned this it would be good to find out more.
I think it’s a great feat of automotive engineering by Porsche and and a leap forward barring minor cosmetic drawbacks.
if I was considering an automatic Porsche, I would definitely go for it.
I'm waiting for more independent reviews, not reviews from people who got invited to Spain and have to fear to not be ever invited again to future launches if they write something Porsche dislikes.
Another L for potential buyers. No doubt the car is faster but given that the 992.1 is already too fast and offers too much power for most roads, the performance increase is useless. So now you are left with a car that has eliminated iconic features on the inside and offers a much uglier front bumper thanks to vertical louvers which just look plain wrong and concept car-like, in a bad way. It’s a shame so many people will actually pay more for this “update” when in fact, it should not cost more for what are so obviously detriments to the iconic 911. Truly a shame.
I'm not at all interested in the new hybrid version unless a manual is offered which it will not. Watching Matt Farah's review I literally turned it off 3/4 of the way through...same comments, lack of sound. Cool tech though that Porsche has introduced and the fact that car has no starter or belts in impressive but not enough to make me want one.
