This is true, but the problem with the PDK and Porsche is that when a PDK fails (either minimally or catastrophically, or somewhere in between), Porsche replaces the entire unit, instead of "fixing" it.

Now, an indie shop can try to source parts from salvaged vehicles to "fix" the PDK, but that's a whole other hornets nest you're poking ...

Whether it’s rowing or using paddles, the important thing is that you’re doing it in a 911.
Thats what makes either choice a winner. It’s all about the car in the end.

Hey Scott, But unless I'm wrong, and I may be. The Base Carrera cannot have many features that the T has. Right?

My T will be used daily and in bad traffic.

That is not even remotely how it works. Almost all PDK problems can be solved with a distance and/or speed sensor, which is now an aftermarket part available from multiple vendors.

You don't have to use the dealer for everything, you know.

I don’t find newer turbo cars fun with a manual, they just work better with a good auto or DCT. My NA cars are all manuals 981/M3/S197 and my turbo cars are auto/DCT. I’ve tried a 991.2 S with the 7speed manual and while the clutch and shifter are fantastic, I didn’t find the 3.0TT well matched, just personal opinion of course.

I have a PDK T because it had the right options available but it could have been a similarly optioned S or GTS. Now that I have it and have been driving it a bunch, I’m convinced it’s a very cohesive package and the PDK is even better than the older version in my old 991.2 S.

No PTV, SPASM, lightweight windows, rear seat delete and none of the T livery that I personally love.

PTV on the Carrera 4 and lightweight glass on all base models.

I have owned 5 Porsche's, the last being my 2018 Carrera T. After test driving the used 2024 Carrera T PDK at Naples Porsche I was beyond pleasantly surprised. I only test drove it for my female friend who was about to place an order but wasn't sure which tranny to pick. I already had placed my order a few days before for my manual Carrera T.

Knowing that I'll be driving it in crappy Naples FL and Charlotte NC traffic daily was a big deciding factor in changing my order to the PDK. If I lived in the country or mountains and wasn't driving it 7 days a week I most likely would have stayed with the manual, but the PDK was impressive.

We can all go round and round about how wrong or right either gearbox is, but in the end they're both excellent.
Coincidentally, I live in Naples and lived in Charlotte, NC from 2017-2019. Your logic is sound, IMO. I went with a MT for my T because it's a weekend car. I would have gone PDK for sure, if it was my daily, especially knowing in-season traffic in Naples and year-round traffic in Charlotte - no fun. That said, I probably would have gone S or GTS if I went to PDK. For me, the ethos of the T is exactly what I wanted so I chose MT first THEN bought a small SUV for daily. My new setup makes my weekends extra special.

I stand corrected, I never noticed the lightweight glass being an option on the base, I did know about PTV on the C4 but we were talking C2.

And their trim choices. It's the same discussion we've had a million times, just a different thread title. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Wow.... what an amazing level of greed. I'd argue that's not only bad for the crack head dealer but a bad look for the brand as a whole.

A full drop in replacement should cost less than half of that.
