MY 992 is really our car hence the PDK in it, the 996 is my car and is a 6speed manwell... if i was getting a 992 for myself only it would likely be manual mainly for resale and if it drove very well that would be great also.

all of my previous Porsches have been manual. I was concerned when I ordered my T in a PDK that might not like it. I can tell you that I probably will never buy another manual again. The PDK ( in sport and sport plus mode ) is so much fun , and even engaging when using the paddles.

Yes, PDK is brilliant. Its smarter and faster than you or me. But nobody pays a premium for an automatic over a manual. Nobody sells fake paddles for a manual car but Porsche put a fake manual stick in the GT3. Manuals have held and will almost certainly hold their values better than a PDK. Especially when the 2025s drop and most models (reportedly) become PDK only. Why not get a manual now when they may disappear from the configurator soon? I suppose if you never learned to drive stick or drive constantly in heavy traffic the PDK makes sense.

I have a 5 speed in my 65 Mustang Fastback, so I chose PDK as it's my daily driver. If I didn't have the Mustang, I would have chosen the manual. A manual is definitely more fun and engaging as others have mentioned, but the PDK is as good as advertised.

As I said earlier, I still have manuals but the 911 is PDK. But I find some of the comments here a bit redicolous dissing PDK guys as "PDK only if its my DD" etc. To the OP, maybe don't listen too much to someone else's opinion but get what makes most sense for you (like if you care MT cars may or may not demand a higher price on used car market) and what you can see yourself enjoy the most. I personally like rowing gears too but I like the PDK in the 911 even better...

So, you like a PDK if the gear changer/lever/**** of an automatic car looks more like a manual gear shifter? Isn't that kind of false advertising, pretending? just messing with you ;-)

My Evo X has a dual clutch and the factory shift logic is bad*, so I only ever drive it in manual mode. It has paddles and a console shifter and I prefer the latter. It does scratch the itch a little, and you can pretend your working a sequential dogbox.

My friend and I both decided to go with PDK's. It was simply phenomenal when I test drove the T with a PDK yesterday.

It's not true. It's just what the SA said to steer the buyer toward PDK. That way, if the buyer backs out or if the SA gets the car back down the road in trade, it will be easier for him to sell. I've found the two things dealers push 911 buyers to option are PDK and a sunroof. For my money, both get a quick "It's a no from me dawg."

I had a PDK 991.2 and it was cool. I think it is overly exaggerated at how great the PDK transmission is, at the end of the day, it just became another boring automatic. Got bored really quickly and regretted not buying a car with 3 pedals. By the time I realized, prices were sky high that it didn't make financial sense for me. My $0.02 is get the manual transmission.

The false advertising/pretending is being done by Porsche. It's not a shifter. If they didn't want to give it shifting functionality, they should've just used a couple of buttons like everybody else.
