Default Love my Burmester

For my 991.2 T, I had ordered Bose and thought it was totally adequate. It wasn't phenomenal but also not a slouch. When it came time to order my 992.1 GTS, Bose was not available, and since I love music, I ended up biting the bullet and going with the Burmester system. It really is overpriced, but honestly in my opinion, I didn't have much choice. I really wanted a good system.

Fast forward to yesterday, driving at around 60mph down the highway with the windows open in sport mode and all I hear is the music. That system is so awesome, it can completely drown out any engine and road noise. Roll the windows up and turn off the sport exhaust and you won't hear anything but the music even at lower volume. At high volume, it is absolutely clear and undistorted, so doesn't cause ear fatigue.

Yes, you do have to turn it up a bit to drown out outside and engine noise, but the key is that it remains undistorted and sounds perfect. Absolutely love it. I'm almost glad that Bose was not available. When it did become available again, my dealer told me it was a lower powered version, which wasn't as good as the original Bose.

Would love to hear what other Burmester owners think. Bottom line: Way overpriced but worth it.

The track I was listening to (on Spotify):

I like mine, but have wondered if anyone else finds the highs to be a little harsh.

I had it set to 2 and yesterday put it down to 1. I think it's also my ears getting older though. lol. I'm 52.

Hahaha, I thought the exact same thing. Just turned 50. Lots of loud music when I was younger... DOH!

Right?! I think too many concerts for me. But having said that, I think the Burmester is just tuned to be perfect at 0 Bass and 0 Treble. Where other systems I've always had to go up in both bass and treble quite a bit. Of course it's also dependent on the type of music.

What do you use as your music source and how is it connected? I configured my 4S with Burmester and can't wait to try it out when it arrives next month. I've read of people having different results when using streaming services through their phone.

Try ripping FLAC files to a USB drive as your music source. You won't regret it.

Thanks for the tip, @jmrichards ! I have a large library of FLAC files for some of my favorite albums that I could put on USB so it's good to know the car can play this file format.

I mostly use Spotify and just over Carplay. I'm not sure I'll hear much of a difference in the car but have been considering using Tidal. At home, I'm using a Bluesound node with Focals.

I have it and love it, on days when my windows are up doing 79mph on I-95, burmester cranked up sounds fantastic!

Burmeister rules. Bose drools. Anyone else can what they want but I don't think they've really listened.

I ordered the Burmester in my C2 and though the 992 cabin is loud, you can still appreciate the Burmester's sound quality.

Interesting- on my incoming Turbo, I specified Bose as many folks felt the incremental value was not significant. I wonder if that is because the turbo and turbo S are quieter cars and volume perhaps need not be cranked up as high? Just speculation- my car will be here in a month.

I don't think you can go wrong with Bose. I just didn't have the option. But honestly, from here on out, I would spec Burmester. I'm a music fan, bordering being an audiophile. My dream car is a GT3 T but they don't offer Burmester. A mistake if you ask me.
