For my 991.2 T, I had ordered Bose and thought it was totally adequate. It wasn't phenomenal but also not a slouch. When it came time to order my 992.1 GTS, Bose was not available, and since I love music, I ended up biting the bullet and going with the Burmester system. It really is overpriced, but honestly in my opinion, I didn't have much choice. I really wanted a good system.
Fast forward to yesterday, driving at around 60mph down the highway with the windows open in sport mode and all I hear is the music. That system is so awesome, it can completely drown out any engine and road noise. Roll the windows up and turn off the sport exhaust and you won't hear anything but the music even at lower volume. At high volume, it is absolutely clear and undistorted, so doesn't cause ear fatigue.
Yes, you do have to turn it up a bit to drown out outside and engine noise, but the key is that it remains undistorted and sounds perfect. Absolutely love it. I'm almost glad that Bose was not available. When it did become available again, my dealer told me it was a lower powered version, which wasn't as good as the original Bose.
Would love to hear what other Burmester owners think. Bottom line: Way overpriced but worth it.

I love music. When I’m buying a new car, I always go for the model with the best factory system since I don’t like aftermarket. As such, it was always going to be Burmester for me. I’ve never been a fan of any Bose products, but I still checked both out at the dealership during early COVID when there were still cars on the lot. The Burmester just blew the Bose away.
When I ordered my Carrera S, the two options it had to have were manual transmission and Burmester. I also added the noise insulating glass which makes the music listening experience even better. I play music downloaded from Apple Music or listen to SiriusXM.
The price difference between Burmester and Bose is not much relatively speaking on these cars. If you enjoy music, Burmester is the way to go. Like the OP, I love it.

I mean.... sound aside... I'm a sucker, so I would have ordered it just for the much better looking speaker grills that class up the interior a bit I'm happy with it though, would definitely option it again were I to build another 992.

I’ve had it in 2 P cars. I’m perpetually puzzled why more people don’t order their cars spec’d with Burmester. When you’re already hitting $150k+ on builds, it’s not awful. I can understand why dealers don’t order them … but on personal orders for a premium car? Seems a no brainer.
Agree with what others have said/comes alive at volume. Bass sometimes too much (but remedied w settings).

I have the Bose but find myself opening the valves with the cargraphic, and turning the music off altogether to listen to the engine.
I do have a 22 speaker Bowers and Wilkins in my XC90 and that stereo is quite nice. But then again I don't have any desire to listen to the XC90 engine.

I don’t get the ‘I listen to the engine crowd’.
I’ve got options. Best of both worlds. Especially on a 5 day trip like I just did.

If you like listening to music in a relative loud car, Burmester is the way to go. I just turn up the volume and experience little or no distortion.
