I have checked my TYD status about 20 times today to make sure they didnt take away my 992.1 Targa 4 GTS allocation with a manual. Never in my life have I been so excited to have an “older” model. I also can no longer access the older configurator even though my freeze date isn’t until 7/2! First world problems and also probably best so I dont keep agonizing over my choices!

The 911 is supposed to be the marquee. The 911 should have an exclusive interior. High end Ferraris don’t steal the Roma’s interior.
The Roma, the 296, the Purosangue, and the new 12 Cylinder all share interior styling characteristics, ergonomics (or lack thereof), and function.

A very significant portion of the 911 is shared with the 718 (Boxter/Cayman). Literally, the frame is both a rear-engined and mid-engined platform used for both cars. Most of the parts in the 718 have part numbers starting with 992-.

Ostensibly, the interior and exterior parts are different, but I guess it gets expensive to design, develop, test, and manufacture fully unique interiors and exteriors, so they try to share more and more across models.

Has anyone taken note that the option for the heated steering wheel has gone MIA on the .2?

It was the Shin-Gijutsu group, former Toyota folks, who taught Porsche how to streamline production and share parts across models.

Isn't that what I said when I mentioned BMW all have the same interior? Plus that's pr speak. We all know that "familiarity and consistency" means using parts bin components to save costs.

If I had to bet, I'd say there will be manual GT cars and it sounds like the rumored manual Turbo variant would make sense. I am less confident there will be a manual T model as I think Porsche may see an opportunity to drive bigger dollar sales in the higher trims. The manual will be the siren song for the well-heeled old school die-hards. The younger generation of buyers may be less loyal to or motivated by the manual transmission. I don't think there is any technical or regulatory reason why they couldn't offer a manual T, unless the next level Euro emissions rules somehow make it problematic, just not sure it makes business sense. It might depend on pricing and volume expectations for the rumored Turbo manual model. If it is mega bucks and ultra low volume that leaves a lot of room for a manual T at the other end.

Em...
if the battery is 1.9kwh, and the electric motor is 53.6hp... Assuming 100% effiency and 100% charged battery, the battery ony last 1.9kwh / 53.6hp = 2.85217385 minutes = 171.130431 seconds.

Can't help but feel Porsche design team took a look at the DarwinPro BKSS Style Middle lip designed for the 992.1 standard bumper.

In one of the reviews, and it might have even been Frank saying it, I heard that there wouldn't be a base Carrera 4 anymore. I assume that means no more base Targa either (since all Targas are AWD). So this means for 992.2, the base Carrera will only be available as a RWD coupe or cabriolet.

If I see it again I will edit this post with the link.

Apparently, the e-turbo is constantly recharging the battery via waste heat from the engine. Additionally, braking regen from the motor in the PDK keeps the battery topped off.

Even with this, after the 7 second Nürburgring run, the battery was essentially depleted.

However, Porsche claims the aforementioned recharging/regen is sufficient to ensure the battery maintains charge during normal street driving.
