"The new Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards require an industry-wide fleet average of approximately 49 mpg for passenger cars and light trucks in model year 2026, the strongest cost savings and fuel efficiency standards to date. The new standards will increase fuel efficiency 8% annually for model years 2024-2025 and 10% annually for model year 2026. They will also increase the estimated fleetwide average by nearly 10 miles per gallon for model year 2026, relative to model year 2021."

Those are likely the high volume cars. So it makes sense from a government mandated fleet standpoint.

The 911 has 4 main models: base, S, gts, turbo. If the S and GTS are hybrid and probably the turbo s then what can we buy in ICE? Only the base? And maybe a turbo and a T later?
Furthermore if in the 992.2 the S and GTS will be hybrids then it seems that in the 994 only the GT cars might remain ICE.
I find it hard to believe that the cayenne range will have more ICE choices than the 911 range but it seems all reliable info so far points to a hybrid S and GTS which is kind of weird for me.

Let them discount the 718 EV to meet the fleet CAFE numbers.

I understand this kind of but then what remains ICE? With the E3.2 cayenne they kind of went the opposite way: From the 4 initial cars only one was hybrid (e-hybrid) and the other 3 ICE (base, cayenne s, turbo gt) and they released a 5th car which is hybrid (turbo e-hybrid).

And how do you pitch hybrid as a good thing if turbo doesn't have it. Everyone will flock to TTS and Base to get "last ICE" killing the middle of the range (and margins for P911). My approach would be intro TTS as a true performance upgrade, a GTS hybrid variant and then trickle in the standard 911s next gen.

Maybe some definitions are helpful here:
- BEV, PHEV, HEV refer to types of electric vehicle.
- ICE refers to a type of powerplant in a vehicle, not the vehicle itself.
- So by definition a vehicle is not ‘ICE’ but a PHEV and HEV vehicle will have but an electric motor and an ICE.

There is nothing wrong with a hybrid 911 so long as the weight is kept under control, I don't think the word "hybrid" is going to flock people to the ICE trims. The word "EV" would, but not a hybrid.

I agree as I see hybridization as just another aid to add power, so long as weight is kept under control like you said. It's a power production method that Porsche has been using in endurance racing for a while. But I would expect the usual amount of internet outrage like when turbochargers were added to every non-GT motor. It would be fine by me if demand dropped as that would bring my number up quicker but as seen with all previous major mechanical change, many paying customers speak with their wallets more than they do with their keyboards.

Since the 4%-8% price increase in the 2nd half of 2023 hasn’t happened yet like the CFO signaled in May 2023, seems more logical to do it when 992.2 is released at this point.

I read all your comments.
I also intend to buy a 992.
I have a slot available for configuring a 992.1 GTS and I'm undecided...
992.2 interests me but I wouldn't mind having the latest GTS ICE either...
from the latest articles on the web the next GTS will be hybrid, precisely FHEV
someone talks about delays due to the chip problem but then I ask you something...
because my dealer told me that I have 10 days from today to decide whether to close the order for the GTS 992.1, after which it will no longer be possible to place orders because they only have 3/4 modifiable slots regarding the 911
it seems that something like this can only happen if the new 992.2 is presented very soon
ps: consider that here in Italy there is not the problem that I read about other countries where it is normal to buy 911 without lists or open (only Rolex does that here) so the dealers don't say or do things to earn more
what do you think?

Do you own a 911 today? If not i would go for the 992.1 GTS you can order now. Then you can always trade this in when the new one arrives and if you think the upgraded version is worth it.
As you point out, a new version might get som delays. So you will probably end up waiting a long time for the new version. Order now if you do not have a 911, life is to short to always wait for the next great thing!
