Things are moving in the right direction. The fact that quite a few dealers have cars on the lot shows that buyers are not willing to pay ADMs like they were earlier in the year. Its only a matter of time before the dealers will be willing to sell the cars at MSRP especially as rates rise and the cost of holding the inventory increases.

Yes lots of cars mounting up in the lots but this won’t happen overnight. They will drop about $3k per month for the next 6 months then to $2k and start coming back to reality by Nov/Dec of ‘23.. best time to buy will prob be Dec of ‘23. I guess a 30% drop on used prices by then.

I was contacted out of the blue today by a dealership I have called about a car in the past. 911 Carrera Cab that a buyer walked away from available for immediate purchase….when I asked about pricing he was being very vague but when I pressed a bit about selling at MSRP he said that they would probably sell for MSRP plus a 2 year maintenence package. FYI the Targa and Sport Classic listed on their site are customer ordered and not available for sale. I am not interested in this vehicle, but in case anyone is here is the link:

For someone trading-in an existing/owned 911 for a new 911, I wonder if ADM or no ADM matters at all. We should even consider that if ADMs disappear we might be in a worse situation. I.e., is the difference between trade-in price and the new car price higher or lower under the current market conditions vs. future market conditions? Maybe just the same. There’s no way to know, but I’m thinking that the delta between trade-in and new car prices will be roughly similar or the difference in the delta might be negligible relative to the prices of these cars.

I want to order a 992 GTS for Euro Delivery. Unfortunately (fortunately for the weather) I live in SoCal and all the dealers here are telling me min 20k ADM. One dealer did offer 10K ADM but I have been waiting to get an allocation there for the last six months and now the sales manager won't even return my calls/emails/texts. I am sure they are putting me behind others making bigger offers... I get I am going to just sit this out for awhile and let me cash earn interest... Unfortunately I am getting itchy. I sold my 991 S for a crazy number during Covid. Thinking about getting a GT350 to tied me over...

So frustrating...

Why do the Porsche dealers have so many Macans on their lot? Do the supply chain shortages and chip shortages only impact 911 production? Do Macans not use chips?

Cars have something like 3000 components, many of which are specific to a particular model, sometimes down to trim level and option selections. Each component will typically have one to three suppliers. If the only supplier for a component critical to production goes down, the production of that model is put on hold until the component supplier resumes production or a new supplier can be qualified (which can take months to years depending on whether it's a commodity or a custom engineered part). Chips have gotten all of the focus but the supply of all types of components have been affected since COVID such as tires last year or the gold flake for PTS colors currently. Perhaps more pertinent: Porsche sourced the 992 wiring harnesses from a supplier in Ukraine prior to the Russian invasion.

they don't want to lose the Macan buyers, so they are prioritizing Macan production and according to my sources they pulled 2500 cars out of china because of covid lock downs and mostly were Macans
A lot of Macans are leased and people tend to replace their leased cars at the end of lease with same model if available .Otherwise they cross shop other brands which Porsche does not want them to do
and Macan are mostly DD , so if lease is up . people don't have the luxury to stay without a car
vs 911 buyer is mostly purchase , so they can wait, and most 911 are weekend cars rather than DD and the 911 driver usually have other cars in the garage to drive
we were so off normal markets the past couple of years that we forgot the fact that car companies have to compete for customers

So frustrating...
As I was getting more aggressive in my searching this week, in talking to two dealers, they offered me unallocated Turbo S cabs... could be coupes too.... this was not the price point I want to be at, so I was half listening.
If this would hold you over and you want me to guess at which dealers, just shoot me a DM. This was Wed/Thurs this week.

I didn't ask, because I didn't care about the model.

BUT since you asked, here's what I learned about what I was asking about C4 coupe.

1) Manhattan Motors - MSRP +15% ADM
2) Porsche Fairfield - MSRP (Penske dealer)
3) Porsche Nashua - MSRP + must do Porsche financing + PPF
4) Porsche Westwood - just gave me "no allocations" and we didn't really discuss
5) Porsche West Palm Beach (yeah I called a big out of state dealer for me) - very nice, but a deep list (even for C4) and expect 1.5 to 2 years

I just celebrated my one year anniversary of being on a list at position #1.

Would anyone be kind enough to share a few dealerships at MSRP?
