Default Seat wear at 3,500 miles

I noticed that my seat is wearing badly on the seam. I know I should lose some weight, but this gets worse everyday. Anyone else have an issue like this?

Don’t listen to Nick. This guy shows the real way to get in and out of a 911…

Need a routine getting in and out especially if you keep it long term. Does't look like a weight issue... more of abrasion problem. Could be cheap jeans? HaHa

That should't happen.

Odd question, but is that where your seatbelt might rub when you're sitting in the seat? I seriously doubt it, but stranger things have happened. Regardless, I would take that in for a dealer warranty item. Yikes!

Are you rubbing against that getting in or out? If so is it possible to get in and out a different way? Foot on dead pedal, *** in first, etc.?

I am SUPER careful getting in and out of my seats and also experienced this to a limited extent in roughly the exact same spot with my Bordeaux seats. A little touchup using matched "Leather Fresh Dye" from Colourlock fixed it right up and has it looking like new even after another ~1k miles.

Super common issue on well-bolstered seats. One just needs to be more mindful about not hitting that part during entry/exit. Also, do you have 'comfort access' enabled to retract the seat and wheel, which gives you more 'room to move'?
Also, your dealer should have a 'leather guy' which they also use to do touch ups on their CPO cars, etc.

I noticed the same wear on my 18 way seats after very few miles (100s). The covering is incredibly thin at that location. Since first noticing this I’m very careful getting in/out and have not had much wear since. Should be easy to touch-up with the right kit.

Contact these guys, Exclusive Options.

They made a seat bolster protector for the LWB in the 991 GT3.

Abrasion wear caused by a leather belt or belt loops and edges of pockets on denim jeans.

That's simply happening from rubbing on it getting in and out. I've seen that on many 991's.

Porsches wearing prematurely on the outside seat bolsters goes way back. I bought my '87 used and it was already in bad shape, while the rest of the car was almost showroom condition. Also a well known issue in 993s.
I'm sure I look funny getting in and out of the car, but zero wear at 3300 miles. I sit in the seat first and swing legs over the bolster. Reverse to get out.

I have owned 3 used 911' s that came to me with between 10 and 30k miles. None had this wear, nor did they when I sold them. My 992 with 15k has no bolster wear. I agree with the other posts that this is simply ingress/egress technique. Butt in first, butt out last. Your weight and height may make it tougher to avoid rubbing the bolster. It is certainly not a warranty issue.

I had zero unusual wear issues at more than 35k miles on my 992 18 ways. I am used to buckets so my ingress/egress strategy doesn’t involve leaning sliding across bolsters to get in/out. The 14 ways on my Taycan at 22k miles look new. I’m 5’9 and 180lbs.

Eagle1960's answer and technique are the correct ones.
