Currently Porsche can't get how many parts? Does it sound like a good idea to change even if it's a small change with parts issues? I'd bet you'll see a redesign of the rear bumper because of the the known warping issues.

Now my dealer says not to expect 992.2 until MY 2025. So I doubt they’re gonna announce anything any time soon.

correct. the 2024 model year 911 will still be the 992.1. We won't get a 992.2 ( at least in the U.S. ) until 2025.

Source?

I’ve had 2 dealers recently tell me that 992.2 will come out for MY2024 starting with base/Carrera then trickling to higher trims.

They barely produce any base C2s now, why disrupt the whole production line and parts supply chain to make a 992.2 on the base only?

The T is essentially a base C2 with added options…

They could easily release a MY25 late this year. Would make sense if they are ramping down C2 production right now.

Both may be correct. In 2012 Porsche sold both 997 and 991 Carrera models in the US. 997 Turbo models continued into 2013.

This thread is the only place you will hear about it being a 2025. The rest of the world says it is a 2024. We shall see who is correct

Wow, guess April will be the month to reveal if the 992.2 will come to fruition this calendar year or not! But you're right, allocation seems to be really down the last few months. Where normally you expect at least some steady outpouring from all trim levels. Curious indeed...

MY 2025 coming out in late 2023? I don’t think so!!

That’s always true for a new generation because they roll out base/S for first MY of the new gen, while they wait until the second/third MY to roll out other trims like GTS/Turbo/GT3. But for refreshes (.2), don’t they always come out with all the trims in the same MY?

You hit the nail right on the head! I think we’re all surprised to see a .2 after only 4 MYs of .1, given historically Porsche does 5 MYs of .1. Add to that the supply shortages and bottlenecks, the high demand and low supply, why would Porsche come out with a .2 now? Really makes no sense! But I can’t imagine the dealers are making stuff up, they must have heard something.

Wouldn't be the first time a manufacturer has released a new model super early. As long as sale is after Jan 2nd it is fair game. Given a 1/2/24 delivery date, they could start taking orders for MY25 at the end of Q3 this year.... which if is the case... a Q2 announcement would make sense.

There is no 'always'. For instance, the 991 Carrera T came with the refresh, not the first generation as we have seen with the 992. For the 992.2 we will obviously be seeing some electrification, which is unprecedented. Could be separate hybrid models that are introduced first (911E anyone?) this year for MY2024.

I can.

And I bet many folks here on RL can imagine that too.
