2.5 seconds for stock 992 Turbo S but it wasn't my car. What's the 1/4 mile on yours with an M tune? I have a GTS coming next year and wondering if the tune is worth it

I have a 2021 C2S with NO tune or any other mods. Running on PZero. I am able to repeatedly get ~ 3.00-3.03 sec (1 ft rollout deduction), for 0-60…and between 7.2-7.3 sec for 1/8 mile @99-100mph. Can’t find a long enough run for the 1/4 mile….on a suitable/safe street.

I may be off, but I don’t get a feeling that these power tunes do much to improve drag times…at least through 1/8 mile? One reason I’ve held off. Maybe improve 30-70mph, 40-80mph, etc times? Haven’t seen any data, either way, to know for sure?

0-60 will never be the best measure of what these tunes do to our cars. We’ve already discussed this before.
I don’t see my biggest gain over stock boost until I’m over 5000 RPM. And even then, the difference doesn’t peak until more like 6k RPM.
Traction being a factor, by the time you’ve really gotten the most power gains out of the higher boost from a tune, you are already well north of 60 mph racing with the big boys, and you can feel a kick in your pants.
Maybe? By “these tunes”, you mean M-Engineering tune, or all tunes? I saw 0-60 time improvements on my Dinan tuned M4, and so have many BMW owners on different models. But I get your point, and would not expect the difference to be huge in 0-60 times, but in the 0.2-0.3 sec range sounds reasonable?
Case in point - The official 0-60 time quoted by Porsche (I assume all measured under the same conditions, and Europeans do NOT subtract the rollout time) for the 2CS and the 2GTS are 3.3 sec and 3.2 sec, respectively (both with PDK and sports chrono package). The GTS has 30HP more than the S. The GTS uses the identical turbo and engine to the S, but the turbo has been “tuned” to achieve 30HP more, resulting in a slight improvement of 0.1 sec to 60mph. That being the case, it’s reasonable to assume that a +100HP increase from the M-Engineering tune would result in, at least, a similar time to the GTS…if not faster? Regardless of where peak HP is achieved, if memory serves me, from the dyno curves, isn’t the power and torque curves higher than stock, throughout all, or most of the RPM range?
Regardless of what you believe, the tune improvements should show up at 1/8 and certainly at 1/4 mile.

Times should aim to improve on all performance metrics in my opinion, with specific design criteria and goals for each. I may be in the minority, but quite frankly I don’t care how much HP a car makes. I want to know how fast and quick it is. If you give a car 100hp and it’s unusable for you, say on the track because it causes too much heat, or on the strip because doesn’t help your times, or on the street because it causes errors and only impacts times when your going 100mph, than who really cares. It’s the outputs that count.

Totally agree. HP is one metric, but how that translated to the drag, the street or on the track are the metrics that I only care about.
Yeah, we can talk about this forever, but here is what I have seen on datalogs taken from my own car:
Boost pressure (psi) hitting:
17 at 4000 RPM
18 at 4600 RPM
21 by just over 5000 RPM
24-25 (depending on fuel and conditions, etc) peak in the upper 5000, low 6000 RPM range
23 near redline
Keep in mind that the MAXIMUM boost the stock Carrera S makes is 17 psi. And I'm sure that it doesn't even hit 17 psi until you are well over 5000 RPM.
So, about 2.6sec with rollout? Draggy certified or at a drag strip? So no difference compared to stock with the stage 1 M-Engineering tune, but huge difference with the E85 M-Engineering tune? If I can ask, what is the difference between the two tunes?
Impressive number, but significantly different to what the OP posted? Different tunes and 2W vs 4W? 2W versus 4W will make some difference: stock C4S is 0.1 sec faster to 60 than the C2S, per Porsches numbers. I assume that’s from better grip?
