Default Sport Classic or GT3 Touring...

Let's say you had a choice between either...at sticker

Which would you pick?

The GT3 would almost certainly be the more engaging car to drive, and cheaper.

The Sport Classic would be completely unique in how it drives and looks, with a (likely) significantly higher investment potential...and up front cost.

I am not sure about the “certainty more engaging”. The GT3 is certainly slower than the Sport Classic.

For me, it’s the Sport Classic. It’s faster, more comfortable, and more special than a GT3. It’s practically a GT2 touring.

True. Maybe not. Who knows? I do think the SC will drive like no other car Porsche makes. The SC won't have that spine tingling NA motor, but rear wheel, high torque turbo is its own kind of fun.

Suspension appears to be regular PASM and not SPASM, just based on the stance. But I'm not sure (someone may have hard information on that). That would lead me to believe, if true, that the car was not tuned for max performance. Again - who really knows

I would choose the Sport Classic all day. I appreciate the GT3, but it’s not that great looking of a car [to me] if I’m being honest.

I do like the stance and wheels of the GT3T, but the nostrils are my least favorite part.

Also, clamshell spoiler<Ducktail.

Not a huge fan of the ducktail, but the chance to have a Turbo manual makes the Sport Classic extremely compelling and such a unicorn its future value is way off the charts. But if I had the option for anything I wanted, while the GT3, Sport Classic, etc. are all alluring, I would probably go for a very highly optioned C2S to replace mine, and a Taycan 4S or Turbo S.

To drive, or to own?

To drive, the GT3 Touring.

To own, the Sport Classic. I would bubble wrap it and stick it in my IRA or 401k and leave it for my heirs.

That's the rub. I don't do heavy miles, but I can't imagine owning a Porsche and not driving it.

If my dealer gets an SC allocation (probably a long shot), then I like my chances. The rarity and investment potential are very appealing. But I do like to drive these things.

I honestly don't think the SC will be all that different to drive than a 992 C2S 7MT.

The only thing differentiating it from the 992 C2S is the widebody from the TTS and a detuned 3.7 TTS engine. The dampening, suspension, chassis setup, etc. is basically taken from the GTS.

Oh, and a ducktail.

But all of those things will not make a significant difference in driving dynamics.

The Touring, on the other hand, has a bespoke 9k redline engine, redesigned front suspension, dampening, aero, bespoke 6MT, etc. Now, those things do in fact contribute to a significant difference in driving experience.

Do we truly know the details about the SC though?!? Or did I miss it?!! Could it have the TT/S’ underpinnings considering the GTS borrows from the Turbo?

Not to be glib, but if it did, so what?

The TTS basically drives like the C2S, except it's faster but heavier. Oh, all four wheels power the car.

My point is that the SC is not a child of the GT department. The Touring is.
