So, my very first drive in my new GTS Coupe was yesterday. I took “the long way home” by driving from North Atlanta to SE Tennessee. What a great weather day and drive! I drove about 140 miles and while in break-in mode I was able to work some curves on roads specifically chosen for the twists and turns. Basically, I drove home via Fort Mountain for those knowing the area. Here’s my driving impressions:
The car is laser sharp in terms of directional roadholding (granted below the car’s limits)
Interior tire noise is noticeably less than my 991.1 S and 991.2 C4S that had Pirelli’s (the GTS has Michelins no idea if it is the tire difference or not)
Engine sound is greater, and I did not hear any turbo woosh that I used to hear with my 991.2 (this is a great thing IMO).
I don’t miss 4WD or RWS one iota I had on my 991.2 C4S.
Love the new interior layout and so far, PCM is intuitive for me using and setting up (got home yesterday and got up early this morning to complete setup).
Gas mileage just under 25 mpg.
Fit and finish is impeccable (no surprise here).
Zero regrets on my spec. If I had to do it over, I would not change anything. Here’s the build code: http://www.porsche-code.com/PNZRZWA8
Here’s some pictures at the summit of Fort Mountain, GA.

Please tell us that it stops better, and is quicker than an S.

But if all those in receipt of a GTS were to post their views it’d spoil the suspense for everybody with one incoming. You just need to wait and see ;-)

Ok, here goes. It’s faster than an S, stops in a shorter distance, more usable power than a TTS and more suitable for the road than a GT3. If 724 reviewers hadn’t already done so, one might even describe it as the sweet spot of the 911 line up!

I should probably add, I’m being a good boy and running in so really, I haven’t got any more of a clue than the next person.

My only serious note is I found the ride very hard initially and did wonder how those who will use as a daily will cope. Then I discovered my car arrived with stupidly high tyre pressures and since I sorted that I think it’d be fine for a daily. Check your tyre pressure!

I've only been able to put about 100 mi. on my Targa GTS since delivery. Absolutely love the car so far but until I can rev. it over the required 4K RPM break-in giving it any kind of honest performance review will be tough. What I can say is the low end punch is very strong and you can feel the full 420 lb. ft. at just 2300 RPM! The manual trans. is one of the best I've driven. Short mechanical throws and very precise with tight gate spacing. Although downshifting from 6th - 5th can be a little tricky as it's easy to find yourself in 7th if your not deliberate with the shift. Clutch take up is very light and with great feel. CCBs of course are amazing and for those that have not experienced a 911 with rear axle steering it's a real game changer. Suspension is surprising supple when set in Normal or Sport as the Targa GTS does not have the lowered suspension or helper springs of the coupe/cabrio versions. Sport Plus really firms things up and handling limits are still way beyond what's needed for most street driving. IMHO it's the best of both worlds. Sport exhaust has a nice throaty sound and my sense is will sound great when given more revs. Even after 100+ miles it still has that burning smell and should go away soon. After bedding in the brakes I took it up to 100+ mph. Even while short shifting the run was effortless, calm, and the cabin remained very quiet with minimal tire or wind noise. After coming out of three McLarens build quality is just on another level. Material/fit/finish A+. Good luck to all and the wait will be well worth it!! Cheers

How would someone know, unless they also have both cars and run back-to-back tests. Otherwise, one can only rely on test results that have been public information for the better part of 6 months.

Build both and see if a lot of the goodies standard on GTS are what you would want on the C2S.

For me it was very close but with the Turbo suspension, brakes, wheels, center locks, and a little more exclusivity it was a no-brainer but that does not mean it is the right answer for some one else.

Probably arrived at the right conclusion; for me I had to have the sportdesign bumpers and I would have spec'd PCCBs because I think the S steel brakes just look way too small (I know they stop the car just fine- purely aesthetic). Price was a wash... although sometimes I still consider speccing the ceramics on the GTS but that spikes the price up higher than I'm comfortable with.

I'm more curious about the noise difference vs the S. Personally I think the S sounds just fine but what I've gathered from reviews the GTS sounds amazing. I wonder if there really is that significant a difference- and if the noise insulated glass and/or lightweight package factors into that, and by how much.
