I have had numerous cabs in the past, including BMW's. IMO, my cab is the best car I've ever owned. The roof looks like a soft top, but in actuality, it's a magnesium sectional top with a fabric covering. When up, it's a quieter ride than my 991.2 previously owned. Further, the car exhibits no flex and is as stiff as a coupe. That surprised my as I expected to sacrifice drive quality when driving the cab version.

Driving with the top down and windows raised, there is no wind disturbance inside the cabin. I am able to carry on a normal level voice conversation when driving 70 may.

No regrets buying the cab. Having said that, I'm sure I'd love the Targa as well. Beautiful car.
You nailed it. Better description than I could offer

Just to close this out
I was still on the fence with the Targa as a daily until last week.
Two things tipped the balance.
1 - watching a mate struggle with closing his top because he had parked too close to some long grass that was messing with the sensors
2 - being told by my dealer PTS was on hold for a while and I may be waiting until 2025. He then told me I could have a GTS slot
Deal done on a gentian blue AWD GTS Cab as a daily.
Arriving in October.

You’re gonna love it. You can hear the exhaust and the engine much better with the top down.

There is one extremely important difference for me, that I don't think was mentioned here. Targa is louder inside. The rear spherical window reflects the sounds a lot more than other variants. For many this might not be a problem, but I have something bad with my ears probably, as I was always (since birth) very sound sensitive and loud sounds make me dizzy. I'm OK with cabriolet and coupe, but Targa is too loud for me. Again, this is a very specific point of view, but IMO worth mentioning.

Let's all be honest. The targa is functionally the worst variant of the 911. Heavy, cabin noise, useless rear seats, etc. BUT IMO it looks so good and really is iconic. I think people who get a targa do it solely for the heritage and aesthetics. It also helps they currently resale for at least $20k over.

I disagree. It’s quiet with the top up and down. It’s a coupe with the top up and a convertible with the top open. With things opened up, you can really hear the engine and the mechanicals. It’s not just iconic. The Targa is functionally the most entertaining driving 911 outside of the GT3. There’s a reason that values are so strong — these cars are special.

Back seats? If that’s the reason you’re buying a 911, sure, skip the Targa for marginally better rear seats. If that’s your priority for a sports car, you’re looking at it wrong.

LOL how do you figure? It’s the heaviest, has the highest COG, and is saddled with AWD, but not a Turbo.

Great looking for sure, but for me a non-starter being AWD, which I’m surprised hasn’t been mentioned.

Have to laugh at the idiotic statements folks make on this form....

The rear seats on a Targa are more useful than on a coupe due to same space - better access. Best on a Cab for the similar reason, best access

Next is "it not a Turbo", well a Targa 4GTS has more power than a base or S coupe or Cab. Plus the AWD is a great benefit for most street driving situations. So the dig of "it's not a Turbo" can apply to any 911 that's not a Turbo .

I just don't understand lots of the lame, half baked, comments folks make....

Porsche offers it's customers choices because everyone uses these cars for different reasons. What may not work for one, may work great for another.

Carry on.

^ AWD is not without benefits, but I don’t see how making a car more entertaining to drive is one of them.

And, yes, I expect a Turbo is more entertaining to drive than most, if not all, of the Carrera range. If you took it “as a dig”, I suggest you read the exchange more carefully.

What makes your pointless comment less idiotic than the rest here?

People make the Targa sound like a heavy SUV…even in Targa guise it is still more capable than many other sports cars. I did a track drive with a Targa and it was incredible. Then I had the instructor take me in some hot laps and wow! So basically the capability limit is the driver.

I enjoy taking the Targa on backroads with the top down and the smells and sounds. My GT4 is usually relegated in the garage.

Anybody that’s okay with a targa didn’t really want a cab (which is fine).

But, yeah, the cab is beautiful.

Divisive posts such as this is akin to asking your child if they love mommy or daddy more. Just stupid. Unsubscribed.
