^ Congrats on your new Cab
As I've stated here repeatedly, top down is by far the best way to enjoy a Cab. Sadly, for a good 4 months per year it's impossible. But as a fellow Chicago area forumer, we are hardy people and I open up the top as soon as temp is over 50 F (just wear a coat, turn on the heat and heated seats, and you're good to go!)

IMHO the lines of the Targa more than offset the difference in open air experience. I do not like the big hump in the back of the cabriolet. The Targa is flat out gorgeous.

I will admit that I have not driven the 992 Targa, but I drove the 997 and 991 variants, and I would never be able to live with the buffeting of the wind. 911 cabs are amazing when it comes to keeping turbulence and buffeting to a minimum, but my experiences with the later Targe models have been horrible by comparison.
If the 992 is anything like the 991 in this regard, swap to the cab.

I have my first Cab experience on its way. Should be delivered late April.
Super excited!!!
I know this sounds crazy but opted for Cab because want to be able to throw a couple of Golf bags in the rear seats. I also think the Cab looks as good as the Coupe and plus you still get the Sport suspension which to me is important.
I do think the Targa is gorgeous and historic but not liking what I am hearing about this wind buffeting

Hello Targa owners!
Some of you may know that I sold my ‘21 992 C2S after eight months of ownership and was put on a list for a Targa 4S. I was informed last evening that my name is working toward the top of the list and I should have an allocation coming this summer. So I am trying to do my DD before it comes up.
The rub is this, I was able to jump on a ‘22 Boxster GTS 4.0 allocation last summer and had it delivered the beginning of October. I’ve had some great top down days in it and now sitting on the fence.

- Wind buffeting: 992 Targa owners only - is this really an issue? If so, can it be mitigated? I’ve read that there is a new pop-up windscreen and wonder if it helps any.
- Weight: For back road driving, how noticeable is body roll? Although SPASM isn’t available, Porsche must have the suspension dialed in, no?
- Would you buy another, or seriously consider a convertible?

- Living in L.A., I have the top down quite a bit. There is buffeting with the pop-up not engaged. But when it is, it goes away. I have little hair, but passengers who have a lot don't have any problem, even at speed.
- I did option PDCC. Since this is my first 911, there's nothing to compare to. But I just got out of an Alfa Romeo 4C, which is mid-engine and super dialed in. The Targa 4 is much more capable at speed and in corners than my 4C.
- I love the looks of the Targa and the uniqueness of it. And the big rear window allows for easy viewing of everything around you. That's a big difference from a CAB. Also, the Targa just looks better than a CAB when the top is up. With the top down, of course that look is subjective.
- I'll also add that the Targa is remarkably quiet with the top up. And the Bose sound system is excellent. That leads me to believe that the Burmester has to be out of this world.

It’s easier to load kids in with the top down on a cab. 😉
If you want an open air, minimal wind buffeting atmosphere, only the cab will do that. I can cruise up to 60mph with the wind deflector up and windows down without the charm hanging on my mirror even moving. Above that with windows up and wind deflector up you can cruise at much higher speeds on the highway without issues at all. I looked at a targa but it’s not the same experience.
The ability to put the top up or down at 30 mph is huge when driving with the top up when there is rain or putting the top up/down quickly at a light in 11 seconds.
If you’re looking at the Targa as an option to a coupe with glass roof then it may be ok. But it never drives like a full cab. Not to mention I have SPASM and run in the stiffer mode daily and it’s perfectly comfortable even for my wife. (Granted I’m in Florida and our roads are good)

In my experience, a majority of Targa owners do not even know that there is a wind deflector at the top of the windshield that can be deployed. I have had to show 3 different Targa owners (all 991 or 991.2) how the wind deflector is deployed. Even made a video on it to post on this forum.... yes I own a Targa 4GTS (991.2). And I agree that with the Wind Deflector raised, there is little if any buffeting. My only issue is that my cap will get sucked off my head around 120 mph.

My experience owning a 991.2 targa GTS since 2019.
- Best looking car ever
- I haven't owned a coupe 911 so it's difficult for me to judge the weight/dynamics difference. But the car feels real good to me.
- At normal cruising speeds I'd say up to 75km/h buffering is not an issue, however as soon as you get to highway speeds it is not pleasant for long periods.
- did I say the car looks amazing?
- all in all it is the best coupe-cabrio mashup, especially if like me you don't like the look of the cabriolet.
