My windshield got chipped in AZ this week as well (..Sedona road trip with the lady). I don’t have PPF yet, so I masked the front bumper, mirrors and lower hood with blue painters tape for the freeway portions of the trip. At rest stops I used a detail spray to remove any bugs on the paint. PPF would’ve made life easier. I am hoping to get it installed within the next month.

Those that did ppf on rockers did your shop wrap the rough paint part on bottom of rocker? Also any feedback from owners who did stek ppf? Cars white if it makes difference

I wrapped my entire car and yes they used STEK. Great film cause there isn't too much glue and it's already coated so no need for ceramic. I also had the targa bar wrapped in stealth so it wouldn't get scratched.

I had xpel ultimate install on my whole car, but my installer mentioned that he did NOT do the textured rocker. He stated it would not adhere well due to the texture and the hard line where it starts. Also the purpose of the textured paint is so that scratches and repairs are less noticeable anyway. With that said, that is an area I would be OK touching up with paint/dr color chip as necessary.

Both of my GT cars have full PPF and ceramic. Non-GT get front full frontal and strike zone PPF and ceramic (Kenzo) for whole car including wheels and calipers.
All cars done by Rick and his crew at Unique Car Care (amazing work ethic and results).
Makes caring for car and washing easier.
As cost of PPF had gone up since pandemic, full PPF for a non keeper makes little sense so you have to compromise. If you don't daily your car and it's in nice clean controlled environment without pebbles and stones etc. then sure nothing beats pure paint and if you can make a career out of cleaning your cars then no need for either PPF or ceramic.

Those that got ppf did you do headlights? Installer says it tends to pull back after a bit and will delaminate.

In speaking to my installer about this, he feels like the 992 headlights aren't as fragile in this regard as the 991 but can't guarantee they won't delaminate. Also stated that PPF films nowadays have much better adhesives less likely to cause issues in general. He feels like if you go slowly and cautiously enough, it's probably a non issue. Really have to weigh the risk of damage should need to remove the PPF vs risk of road damage to the headlights themselves. Personally, I'll probably take my chances with the PPF and have them wrapped.

Depends on the brand, some have more glue than others. STEK is one of the materials with less adhesive and I have not had any problems covering headlights on any of my cars.

installer is probably more important than the film IMHO…find a proficient installer that specializes in your vehicle, with solid experience, and you’ll usually find someone using quality product as well 👍

agreed 100%
I did a track pack which is basically full front end, rockers all the way up to higher than factory qtr piece, and rear bumper blast zone. Would have loved complete car but couldn’t justify it lol 2400 vs 6500
