I'd love to hear Moe's take on this. I don't think there is any coating that will eliminate a need for hand washing as there will always be a light film of dirt left after power washing. Look at the corner of your windshield that wipers don't reach after power washing. Simply drying after power washing will produce scratches and swirls. Moe?

PPF can always benefit from a quality ceramic coating…even the newer films with ceramic top coat
the film still needs to be cared for properly, just like paint, if you’d like to achieve the maximum life expectancy of the material

I’d absolutely avoid adding ceramic on your windscreen. It will make buttery smooth wipers judder badly.
I had it happen most recently with Feynlab ceramic on my X7 M50i. It was awful in any amount of rain and I had the installer polish it back out.

Followed by a proper wash using CarPro Reset and lambs wool mitt
After drying, I recommend CarPro Elixir or Reload…if using reload, mix 50/50 with deionized water

I had my installer put Tsunami as the nano coating over the whole car. They have a soap product made for washing the car and a spray for cleaning when the car is not very dirty. They claim that it rejuvinates the coating and is made specially for it. The coating I used before this one called Flight Shield also had their own rejuvenators for their product. They told me not to use normal soap or the soap at the power washing places.

My 992 is the only car I've ever done PPF on. Without it, my paint would have been destroyed last year when I was traveling through the Mojave desert and was caught in a sandstorm . I plan on keeping the car, so for me it's worth the money.

I will be taking delivery of my 911 in just a few weeks - its on the Siem Confucius heading for Jacksonville as I type.
Estimates for full PPF are around $6k and partial $2k.
I will probably trade the vehicle in 2 or 3 years.
Will the dealer even care that the car has PPF or for that matter even a private buyer?
Over the past 30 years I've purchased more than 20 new vehicles, non have had PPF.
None of these vehicles had more than minimal paint chip damage on the front bumper and hood and neither dealer or private buyers overtly tried to lowball the price they were offering when the cars were sold.
I'm having a hard time persuading myself that even a $2k partial PPF application makes sense.

I haven't read any comments about the optical clarity of PPF vs paint with ceramic. PPF is not optically clear - newer films are close, but not 100%. So another trade-off - the best optical clarity/paint pop vs degraded clarity/some chip protection. I struggle with the thought of keeping pristine paint hidden under a film that's not 100% optically clear - when can you enjoy the true look of the paint? Possibly ceramic over PPF enhances clarity, but you're still dealing with an optical "filter" over the paint.
