In two years we will probably be able to buy below msrp again, so I don't think msrp is such a good thing in this case.

I'd rather over pay now and enjoy the car, than wait and still over pay

If you are really going to drive in the winter, I would get the 4s and put proper winter tires on it. In an area with light snowfall and very moderate winters the 2s may be ok....but in Western PA I would go 4S.

I’ve been looking around for allocations available for this year for early next, but maybe not hard enough or in the right places. I’m open to ideas.

That was my mindset as well and why my current car is a WRX with winter tires. I don’t even think twice about driving in light snow accumulation, even though the past few years we’ve only had 1 to 2 days a year of unplowed conditions. My guess is that’s why others are saying AWD isn’t that important.

My mindset is that AWD is great in all weather. Snow yeah.....rain YES.... when I step on the gas, I want the car to go straight. Traction control aside, I don't think anything beats the AWD.
For me, it's not about top speed. I'm more about stomping on it from a standing start. How fast can I get to 60 mph?

Maybe I am thinking about this incorrectly?

All-wheel drive is about getting your car moving from a dead stop—not about braking or steering—and one should be aware of its limitations.

All-wheel drive is far better than two-wheel drive when it comes to driving on slick surfaces where you need serious traction to get going, such as a snowy uphill driveway. But all-wheel drive by itself won’t help if you’re heading too fast toward a sudden sharp curve on a snowy night.

Using proper tires (i.e., winter or snow tires) provides the best grip and assurance for going, stopping, and cornering no matter what you drive: all-wheel drive, front-drive, or rear-drive. And buying winter tires for a rear-drive car (like the 911) will cost far less than the several-thousand-dollar premium for the all-wheel drive 911 C4/S.

I just past a full year as their (supposed) #1 on list for a C4S at CT dealership so Id say a year is realistic e if you dont have either leverage or a volume dealership.

Car will be shod with full snows as it will be my DD and the deal with the boss is that I cannot use weather as an excuse to not pick up kids (she did catch on with last 911 that we have 4 kids and I only 3 open seats but shhh)

I agree. I live in Canada, I got the C2 instead of the C4 since I wanted a rear wheel only car. I'll put a good set of witner tires on it and I won't take the car out when there is thick snow or lots of wet surfaces in winter (too much road salt is used here).

Is it better to get the Porsche winter wheel set or go 3rd party?

If your dealer would allow this to be a european delivery in late Sept I'd be VERY interested.

I would have been interested if it was a GTS coupe.

I was at South Bay Porsche (L.A. suburb) today to get my 2nd key fob programmed on my 22 Targa 4. I walked through the showroom, and saw the following:
  • GT3 Touring, Agate Grey, 150k ADM (buyer coming in this weekend)
  • Turbo S, PTS, 175k ADM
  • 2021 TTS Demo, sold for 110k over original MSRP
  • All Macan's and Cayenne's are 8 - 12k over window
  • They can't get any 718 allocations, so those will be even more pricey
  • They have not seen any Targa allocation in months, and asking (and claimed they are getting) 50k ADM on any Targa.
  • The SA really wanted to buy my Targa 4 (which I got for 1k under MSRP), but I said no. I didn't wait my whole life to get this car to just sell it!
