Exactly, I am not betting on paying ADM. If iam wrong i dont lose much, just buy at msrp in 2024. If iam right, i didnt give away 25-40k. Hence why i bought the Miata, my thinking is at most i pay 5k-10k to drive for 2 years

A year ago people were saying ADM is the exception, and that things would be better by summer -- of 2021. How'd that work out? By the end of 2021, a 6 - 12 month wait from demand order to allocation to delivery has now turned into 12 - 24 months. It will get better . . . or it won't. If it does, it's a ways off. Get the 911 if you want it and can afford it, and/or can justify the price. Take ADM out of the equation.

You bought the Miata because you think the market will return to normal, which could prove accurate. But doesn't that premise negate your conclusion that you will at most pay 5-10K to drive the Miata for 2 years? The only scenario where that conclusion holds true is one where the market conditions persist.

I agree. I guess another way to frame it would be 25k ADM or 35k MSRP at 84 months 1.9% interest (arguably underpriced without raw input costs factored in on sticker at time of purchase) holdover to watch how things settle in next 18-36 months? I chose the latter.

I agree, if you want it, get it. I have been waiting since December 2019 when i placed my order(March 2020 canceled cause you know why--got back on list in M2021 after restructuring business, investments and debt- then Feb 22 got an allocation with condition of 25k ADM)

But i remember what happened in 2008-2010 recession. With interest rising and the end of free money, demand for these cars are gonna go down inherently. And the supply chain will sort itself out eventually(when? who knows) but i think 18-36 months is reasonable guess.

Assume that the ADM is money spent, but never recovered. And also assuming that the Miata's 35k will, at most, give you 50% back after 3 years (and much less later), then you've talking about a relatively modest sum saved to drive a Miata rather than a 911. If that's how you want to roll, go right ahead. It makes no sense to me. There are a lot of other sports cars to drive than a Miata that won't cost you that much more over the next few years: BMW Z4, Audi TT roadster are but two examples. I like the Miata, but it's way down the food chain of spirited driving and enjoyability.

But it's really not though, considering value- especially if you enjoy open-top driving. The Miata has always been one of those cars that appeal to anyone who likes to drive, regardless of cost. I think it's a pretty good holdover car, with very little risk. You can't really exploit all the power of modern sports cars on the street anyway.

That said, I went a different route but it also wasn't to push the 992 purchase down the road a couple years; it was simply because the weather got warmer and I just couldn't stand not having a sports car anymore. I got a 718 Boxster GTS. I don't expect to recoup every dollar spent on the car, but the enjoyment I'll get out of it while I wait for the 992 to arrive is worth whatever expense I end up eating.

With the 718 though, I'm at least capitalizing on the market's unfavorable view of the 4-cylinder engine. I got the car at $15k under its original MSRP, when as we all know similar sports cars are fetching much closer to MSRP or even over. It's still an expensive (one could argue overpriced) car, but I can sleep at night knowing I can wake up and drive a nearly perfect Porsche sports car in the morning, and even put the top down if it's a nice day...

But also worth mentioning is I got the call from my SA that I got an allocation ON THE WAY to pick up the Boxster... still did it, no regrets. 6 months with a Porsche- even if I lose $10k- is still better than 6 months without. IMHO, of course.

I disagree with the "CA dealers are the worst" ... I live in the northern CA Bay Area; placed an order with a local dealer (Porsche Livermore) in Dec '21 for a base C2 - build date scheduled for this May and hopefully a delivery in mid-July. They initially were asking a $10k over MSRP but after a couple conversations about car, build options, etc. they dropped the $10k ADM and we settled on MSRP.

I think a decent deal given the current market. Maybe my experience would have been different if I was looking for a Targa or GTS allocation? But I have to say that I've been happy with my SA so far...YMMV

The question is who benefits because of ADM markups? Does Porsche make more money? Or is it the dealer at the expense of Porsche and the buyer?
So pay an ADM because you like your dealer making money off your impetuousness or chose to wait until logic prevails and a 1 year newer model with new and/or improved features.

Does your dealer deserve to make more off of you? What has the dealer done to help you? Better service? Faster delivery, better delivery experience? That's capitalism, the other is the sign of an oligopoly.
