I ordered the Fabspeed GT2RS style exhaust which is a 200 cat plus straight pipe. I think this will be loud enough for me.

It was as if someone put an airhorn near my head and triggered it. Six hours later I'm still ringing in my left ear from that cool cat making noise in his GT4. That guys was an asshat to run pipes that loud. And FYI, you can't run on any major track in the country these days with one of these max volume rigs.
Wow, that’s awful - I can’t imagine anyone taking the lovely GT4 exhaust note and going full “air horn” style, Not sure I understand why Soul, Akrapovic or others would even come up with it in the first place, but its on the internet so.… Curious, what caused the bigger concern - said asshat’s loud air horn exhaust (you sure it wasn’t a Gen 2 Ram Cummins???) maxing out your and your wife’s hearing aids or the negative air pressure generated as he blasted by you doing 40mph?

Interested to here from more people who may have the Akra slip-on on a 992.

Does it make a considerable difference in volume and in sound??

Imo Kline just blew everyone else away!
Agree in that video Kline makes the others sound tepid at best. I wonder how their 992 options sounds - any Kline customers in here?

EDIT: it sounds pretty amazing in their promo videos here - https://www.kline-innovation.com/exh...e-992-carrera/ . Much better than any of the videos others are posting with the cell phone recordings (which I'm aware is the limiting factor). Kline I'm sure used pro mics with a much wider range. But it's not close.

Clearly louder and different tone. Cold start can be quite loud, I was surprised when I first fired the car up after it was installed. It's a nice bump in volume/character over the stock PSE without being annoying or droning. I like it a lot, I found the PSE to be nice but a bit too sedate. I will say the the videos online, for whatever reason, are generally pretty terrible. I'd suggest trying to listen to one in person if you want to take the plunge.

Did you keep the stock tips or install the Akra ones'?

Would love to hear from others' who only did the Akra slip-on with no other exhaust mods. Really contemplating this slip-on. Hoping that this will take the Volume from what I consider a 5/6 to an 8 on my GTS w/PSE. Also - wondering if the titanium changes the sound for the better or not really much of a difference.

Thanks

As far as I know, you cannot keep the stock tips. I had a reputable local Porsche shop install it and they said they tried but the stock tips were a bit too tight against the exhaust and they didn’t feel comfortable not installing the Akra tips.

So you just have the Akra slip on with no other exhaust mods??

How much louder would you say it is from the stock w/PSE and do you like the sound of the titanium sound good compared to the OEM?

Thanks

I just installed the Akra Slip on my 21 C2S 992. Definately louder than stock. The Cold start is also a lot louder, and from my research doing Cats really amps up the Cold start. ( I can't imagine) In Normal mode, its similair to stock Sport mode without the pops n bangs from a volume perspective.
If your cruising switch to Normal Over-drive gear, and its smooth and civilized.
The true glory is in Sports Mode at the 5-6 RPM, thats where it really sings, deeper tone, and considerably louder than stock.
IMO its just what this car needs to give its some character, and have it talk back to you when you let it rip.

Thanks. Sounds like this is what the Doctor ordered.

I am not looking to go too loud because "been there and done it" with my GT3s and only bearable for an hour. Just looking to notch up volume from a 6 to an 8 and that is what it sounds like it achieves. A little pricey but their products are works of art and can always capture some back if need to sell it on secondary market

I’m looking at the full Kline setup as well. Did you go stainless or inconel? Mind sharing rough installed cost for the full setup?

The GT4 has a unique flow path compared to most of the other N/A engines being that the left and right exhaust banks are not combined. This means the inherent sound is raspier and louder, but here at SOUL we make a fantastic Valved Exhaust System with dual X-Pipes that combines the flow path of the left and right cylinders giving the exhaust the GT3-esque tone that Porsche owners are accustomed to.

That being said, people are free to do whatever they want to do, and SOUL does sell a full race exhaust meant for closed course competition use with a full lifetime warranty as well!

If you desire a quiet, stock exhaust sound, that's wonderful. I have a stock exhaust on my Boxster S since it's the date-drive car. On my 911, it was a full race system since that was a track car. (I did run our side mufflers to keep it livable).

Back to the original post - we offer a really nice sounding valved exhaust system for the 992's, which paired with our Sport Cats, sounds pretty fantastic. Keep in mind, the OEM valves don't open until about 3800 RPMS, so while this is a nice enhancement, it's not transformative until about 4k.

Our "full monty" is our valveless X-PIpe exhaust system.

Grab more info here or shoot me a DM anytime to learn about the 992 SOUL product line.

Yup - about 20-30% louder than stock. Very different tone, I like it a lot. The stock PSE clearly sounded like they were trying to keep volume down using baffles and this opens it up a bit. I think it's hard to explain though since it's so subjective. Cold start is also much louder, I was confused when I first started the car after the exhaust was installed. I legitimately thought I had kept my foot on the gas by accident.

Does anybody offer a simple module that allows the valves to be fully open at any RPM or switch back to OEM RPM controlled? Renntech does that for AMG for the AMG PE (ASR module) and it makes a huge difference. Simple module that gets plugged into the valve control cables and overrides the OEM control and opens the valves 100% from 0 RPM - and comes with a simple on/off remote.

IMO its just what this car needs to give its some character, and have it talk back to you when you let it rip.

I recently installed the Fabspeed Motorsports:
  • Sport Cats
  • Cat-Back Valvetronic Maxflo Exhaust and
  • BMC air filters

(Installed A Numeric Shifter and cables too - highly recommend for the manual transmission)

It’s a CS2 w/ standard exhaust and quad tips (non-PSE). I like the quad tips, so they stayed. My service manager said he’ll have it programed for PSE during an upcoming appointment. Had to give him a copy of the instructions from the Tequipment manual :

https://rennlist.com/forums/attachme...tall-instr.pdf

The cold start is definitely louder. It sounds like it idles high after the cold start to me. But, I understand 900 RPM is normal.

Everything else you described is exactly the same including no CEL and a very easy DIY installation:
I used a hydraulic floor jack on each of the rear jack points and installed everything lying on my back.

The standard exhaust was a disappointment coming from an F-Type R and I don’t read many rave reviews for PSE either.

Love the exotic car sound and it absolutely enhances the driving experience. I still get excited every time I know I’m about ready to drive off somewhere. Unfortunately, its equally disappointing when the drive is over as I approach the garage on the return home.

Here is a video clip from Fabspeed:

Fabspeed 992 CS w/PSE video of Sport cats only:

Hope this offered some added perspective.
