$500,000 later...

 

I owned a 993, they are not worth the prices they are now commanding. If I was going back in time I would buy a G series with G50 transmission.

 

I love mine. But I put some effort into getting it where I want it.

 

Did you test drive this car before purchase to see that you liked it ? You should have known that it was not for you if you did .

 

As many of us are not driving our first 911, I think those of us that have owned multiple different generations would agree that they all drive differently and seem to check different boxes. I had a Dinan F80 - thing was silly fast, but also felt like a bit of a boat. The 992's are fantastic cars, but if you put them up against earlier gens they are certainly bigger and drive more smoothly with a few more nannies. For some buyers that is exactly what they want - the best modern tech yielding refined, unsurpassed performance. Other buyers prioritize a certain driving feel over this (OP sounds like this category) and tend to gravitate to something less refined. OP wants an NA feel in a 911? Drive a 991.1 GTS / GT3. For me, I moved to a 997 TTS which fixed everything that I disliked about the F80 and took everything that I did like about it to another level. Would I drive a 992? Absolutely - it would just check different boxes for me than my 997 and I'm fine with that. It's all about scratching the right itch

yes. I still own the car. It’s been in the shop for 2 weeks now and I’ve been driving a loaner cayenne. What I said is I suspect the 911 will feel pretty special after driving this thing for two plus weeks.

Clarifying a few things. Yes. I have an s. Yes. I have the 7mt. So I have a pretty engaging version of the car. Yes it’s my personal only car (wife has a Tesla). Yes. Florida roads are nice and smooth but boring. Yes. I drive it daily but my driving has been reduced to 4K miles a year as I work from home or on a plane. Yes I drove the car before I bought it.

and it’s truly a wonderful car. I’ve owned high end cars for the past dozen years and this is by far the most refined. Quick yes. Not fast. Or at least not to me. It’s absolutely gorgeous. But yet. The driving experience leaves me going meh.

I should get it back from the shop this week or next. We will see what a couple of weeks away has done and if I don’t fee it. The car will be replaced.

I agree 100%, that’s why I bought MT GT4 instead. Beyond incredible car. Didn’t like the 992.

 

If this one doesn't do it for you, the logical step would be a 991TT. The price would be about the same, and you wont be lamenting that it doesn't try to kill you whenever you put your foot on the floor

 

Welcome to the world of on-line forums right! Although most folks here have good intentions, you have to be prepared for things to get poked, prodded, twisted and turned upside down until the core of what you were saying has changed into something else or taken to extremes.

 

 

A strong aftermarket exhaust system could work wonders and really enhance the overall driving experience at least for most performance oriented individuals. Personally I just don't get and would have absolutely no interest in a quiet sports car regardless of how many times a week I drove it. That would be like riding a silent Harley, forget about it.
