The roads in a persons regular area make all the difference in the world. We have great terrain and twisties back in Western PA where I used to live. Sports cars and sport bikes were a ball there.
Totally different here in FL, you can use that stuff year round but the roads are all straight and flat as a pool table.
Hellcats are fun here.

For me, the amount of traffic is the key factor. I no longer have to commute to work, so going out anytime during the week (except rush hours), was pure joy. Now, with COVID changing work habits, there are always people clogging up the road. Please, go back to work, people!! 🙏 👍

Your interest in horsepower gives me the feeling that you DID buy the wrong car. Perhaps pure acceleration is what your emotions respond to, above anything else. Maybe a Porsche Turbo is in your future.

^ I didn’t quite get what he meant by that statement, as the 992S is not a < 400 hp car. Perhaps he owns a base model?

Thats cool. It just hasn’t been my experience. I kind of find myself irritated driving this car surrounded by all of these minivans and sedans where every lane is blocked and half the drivers are talking on their phones and not moving out of the way.

Just a thought here that has been similarly expressed. First - I agree the 992 is too competent to feel exciting when driven sanely on public roads. An earlier - less competent car would require more "driving" than a 992. SO - if you decide to go to a GT car get a GT3 - not a GT3 RS - certainly not a GT2RS. Oh the latter 2 cars are phenomenal BUT they are really so competent that you'll have to go dangerously fast to feel like you need to drive the car. A GT2Rs drives like 50 mph when you're passing 100 mph. The performance is so easy you just don't feel like you need to do much but watch out for slow traffic. A 991 GT3 by comparison will down shift an extra gear or 2 (or 3) when you accelerate. The sound and feel of the car needing your attention is much greater at "slower" speeds. If you want to get REALLY excited buy a 996 GT3 and try to drive it at about 80 mph on a 2 lane country road. That car will require your full attention and at speed will hurt you if you blink slowly. You'll want another car to daily drive though unless you like the feel of a car making 9 cents change every time you turn or stop on a dime. I'm sure someone said this above - it's more exciting to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow. "Slow" in a modern Porsche 911 is still 100 MPH - so your pulse stays in rest mode most of the time. Want to change "meh" into "my god" - find a "lesser" Porsche GT3 for days when you want to drive and something else for transportation.

It would appear that your expectations could be the reason why you are "irritated". No one is obligated to get out of your way because you are driving a high performance sports car. The general public could care less about our cars capabilities or how aggressive any one else is in their approach to traffic. It is foolish to consider the other vehicles in traffic as blocking your way.

Besides the flat roads, there is bumper to bumper traffic in many of the Floridian cities when the snowbirds descend for the winter. It will only get worse with the surge of people relocating to Florida at a record pace. Hellcats are not much fun in traffic either

Having owned a lot of cars, sometimes you want something raw and more edgy, like break dancing instead of the ballet that is Porsche.

Then other days cars like that Shelby are far too raw, and you appreciate the smoothness and capability of a 992.

Which ultimately is why you need a big garage, lots of money and a stable of cars. It's not easy to have one car do it all for you. Some days I prefer my Cayenne GTS with the noisy and brutal V8 engine, because its actually more hooligan than my 992S.

I'm sure by now the OP has sold his car but his disappointment should be a lesson learned for others who have expectations that cannot be met by the 992. I, for one, am not disappointed at all. I DD the car and have taken a 2500 mile trip. Plan to get it on the track as soon as I get my summer wheels. So, far, it has exceeded my expectations. It is not the lightweight, bang through the gears, and throw it around at street legal speeds car. But, I do manage to have fun with it most times I drive it. For those who want the former experience, in a new car, check out what Toyota has released outside the US. Seems like it might scratch that itch at a fraction of the cost of a 911. And with enough interest, they might bring it here...

Traffic can get heavy on the east coast in the zone from Palm Beach down through Miami. Never even considered living over there. No traffic jambs here in Bonita Springs even in season. Originally intended to keep our home in Western PA but ended up selling it because we just love it here and have no reason to return to all that dark, gray, depressing weather and absurd taxation.

I have a GT500 and a 992, and I can tell ya, aside from the exhaust, everything else about the 992 just feels better. It's really hard to compare them. Not to say the GT500 isn't a great car, but it's not a 911
