Instrument Cluster display blacked out completely During Driving
My 992 C2S Instrument cluster completely blacked out while I was driving. No speed, no mileage. It is 2nd time I have experienced this issue. It recovered itself later after I lock and unlock the car. btw I have to wait at least 10 minutes between locking and unlocking.
Has anyone in the forum experiened the same issue? BTW I am contacting my local dealership tomorrow.
Never encountered this issue so far. The PCM screen in my 2020 cayenne does black out from time to time, but not the cluster display. Let us know if dealer gets to find out the reason. This is the worst problem with those digital displays. When they black out or frozen, there’s nothing you can do which really sucks.
It could be a matter or reprogramming, maybe 30-40 mins at the dealer. If that fails, they should replace it, which is more involving between parts and labor.
ive had it happen on a 2015 vette - 2018 jeep - you'd think the tech would be advanced enough by now that this wouldn't happen....but both vehicles always fully recovered whenever it happened....pretty much the same as when CarPlay disconnects or reboots....i wouldn't sweat it until it happens on my car (again!)
Update as 1/12: sent to local AD for checkup, found service bulletin SY 902525, and performed software upgrade to 0215 from (0206). Hopefully it resolved the problem.
hi have you resolved this issue? I recently got my 911 on 3rd of december everything was good, left it at detailer on 6th of december for ppf and ceramic coating. I picked it up today on the 21st of december. The car is less then 3 weeks old.
My screens are completely black. I get a yellow exclamation mark on the top left of the rev counter. Occasionally all warning signs on the cluster appear but disappears after 1-2 seconds.
I checked the porsche app for warning there arent any. I can’t see when i signal, speed, fuel… absolutely nothing except for the rev counter.
I ser factory defaults on pcm but no difference. The car waited at the detailer for a while (from 6th to 21st) but they said the car was hooked to the power. It is a experienced detailer and im certainly not their first 992 911.
how did you fix yours? I havent been able to drive and enjoy my car yet and this happens. Ruined my day.
Thanks in advance for the info and help.

In 34k miles, mine has crashed three times like this. It comes back very quickly. I wouldn’t fret over a glitch in the matrix. If yours is doing it frequently, something is up.
how quickly are we talking about? Mine just had the same issue and hasn't come back yet... Driven the car in that state for little over 35km yesterday.
interesting... Mine currently all in the dark. I have driven that way for an hour yesterday. Did PCM reset but no luck.
Occasionally all the warning lights blink then turn off. At the same time my sport chrono starts to wind itself up randomly now... I am on my way to the dealership now to get it checked. I literally just been able to drive the car and this happens. Quite annoying.
There is a good chance that something got disconnected and not connected correctly by your PPF guys. They may be a very good show, but everyone makes mistakes. And these systems can be hypersensitive. Did the disassemble the bumper and other parts to wrap the edges?
yes entire body bumpers spoilers all of it. It is a experienced detailer
