Yeah... only the fixed back buckets are available in North America... which means no folding and no heating.

That may be the differentiation from Carrera S I needed to justify another GTS in that case.

No rear seat? What's the point? Might as well get a GT3 then.

It doesn't make sense.

The lightweight package for the Turbo S is completely nonsensical. It saves 66 lbs and you lose significant functionality.

Yeah.
Id love to have a GT3 with rear seats. I hoped Porsche would make a touring with rear seats, but it never happened. So I got the GTS as it's as close as you can get.

I placed deposits for both GTS and Turbo yesterday. Turbo will need to wait 8 months and GTS will be at lease 1 year. My SA highly recommend GTS for me because it hold strong value. I might not want to wait for more than a year.

I'm told orders will be taken next month or two, for summar/late summer delivery.

Don't pick between the two based on resale value. What a dull reason to pick a sports car. And even then, as tight as Turbo/S allocations have been lately, no one really knows what the relative value will be on those cars. 8 months may actually be a little optimistic for a Turbo right now. That's literally you being number one on their next allocation (which may very well be the case).

Bottom line - get the car you really want.

will there be a dealer mark up over the MSRP when you order/purchase a model like 992 GTS / Turbo S? (in United States East Coast)

Only foolish people are paying a markup on a Turbo S.

I'm sure some suckers will pay over sticker for a GTS, but that will not be the norm.

thanks for your reply. could you please let me know what the norm is in the Porsche market in U.S.? will there be a 5%+ discount from the MSRP, even for ordering a new soon-to-be-released model like 992 GTS / Turbo S which look like there is a waiting list or a kind of allocation competition ? (it is just my assumption, please correct it if it is not true). Thanks.

8 months means MY 22 and September production. Doesn't anyone have an earlier production allocation?

I'd dig into the archives. Lots of threads on allocations and prices.

Yes, there will be a wait list and limited number of cars. I suspect the GTS will perform like the Turbo/S when it comes to discounts. For the vast majority, the GTS will sell at sticker. A few will be able to get a discount. I'd say that discounts right now max at ~8% for all practical purposes. 3-5% may be more common, but still rare. Discounts will depend on local market conditions, buying history/relationship, whether you are local to the dealer and luck. Bottom line - sticker is a good price.

For the Turbo that may be true and seems accurate. Most are waiting 8-12+ mos I hear now for a Turbo/Turbo S allocation. As for the GTS? Not even released the car yet...no dealer has an "allocation" but may probably will take your name and money to get on a list. Don't confuse that with an allocation. An allocation=commission number from Porsche AG and they will build you a car on the production line at said schedule in time in the future. Lots of folks get that wrong on here trying to source cars. Dealers can't release an allocation for you for something they do not even have and which Porsche has NOT released to them. So yes GTS wait is likely Q4 2021 at best as a MY22 but I would not be surprised to see it arrive in the US as a Spring/Summer 2022 car.

It is just funny what some will believe from sales folks without doing proper research all in hopes of sourcing the first GTS or Carrera T or something. Cars have not even been announced yet to the public or a release date given. Anyway for a GTS you will pay sticker more than likely I would guess....esp since most dealers are getting MSRP at the ask for avail 992s now also given the inventory. Those with relationships as noted by rk-d MAY get a good discount with some negotiation but the days of 8-10% are likely gone for a while given the current situation. Most I've seen was 8% on the forum...I got 3.5% last July 2020 (with deferred/exempted excise sales tax from my state of record added it was more like thrown it equaled more like 4.5%) and was happy. Don't see many folks getting 4-5% and blowing thru the 10% floor at all as noted. Most have to search like hell for any allocation now so can imagine the GTS ones whenever they are released will be that much more rare and thus costly. Not many are getting these cars on the cheap anymore....Good luck.
