Ya gotta love how some new car retailers transfer their "allocation" problem to the potential buyer. "Allocation" problems are the retailers problem not the buyer's. There are many Porsche dealers out there who can provide you with a car and not a dissertation on their market place shortcomings.

I'm looking for an allocation and not in a hurry.
Please PM me with any suggestions.

Does it make sense to offer more variants, when there is a one year backlog of orders at the factory for the current models?

More margin from each one they make. Volumes may not increase but bottom line would.

Yeah, I bet if some of the customers waiting for an S switches to a GTS, that's more margin for Porsche.

Am hearing crickets....nothing from European or UK media on a release tomorrow. Ah its already 10AM in Berlin mind you....

Nope...current micro chip shortage plus sub suppliers still are having issues and they are moving production schedules around I hear amongst various models just to keep cars on the lots/delivered to the most profitable models. Notice that does not equal more 992's being made either. Taycan, Macan, and Cayenne are taking precedence vs 992s it seems. Panamera and Boxster/Cayman may just go on hiatus after 2021/2022 production....so WHY are they eager to introduce a new model to the fold when they can't keep up with current ones announced. We have yet to see a 992 GT3 on US shores mind you folks keep forgetting and 992 Turbo/Turbo S's are only just now trickling in. To add a GTS to the mix that no one can get is madness given Porsche NA will still price them appropriately.....dealers likely not so...but they don't control production in Zuffenhausen now do they?

Not likely...cars would sell to dealership for same amount set by Porsche....markups will likely occur at the dealership level as they are independent entities. Porsche's profit is already baked in.

Usually an optimist but I fear you and a few will be disappointed....no signs point to a release tomorrow or order books to open given global demand/shortages and inventory issues along with utter silence from ANYONE in the automotive world AND Porsche NA and Porsche AG. My SA still says FALL 2021 earliest and nobody will see a GTS car in the flesh in the US till 2022. Makes sense given timelines of delivery most have seen. I fear the "in the know" crowd who are being promised allocations for deposits are just getting played by dealerships at least for the near future. Its guys on this forum who have been "in line" for a GTS allocation "about to drop any day" since Jan of this year! My dealership and others I've seen still have zero 992s on the floor/lot and we're now into mid-end of June....I'll believe it when I see it guys!
