I have been seeing a bunch of you so called downgrading in power going from GT3's, GTs's, S's, etc. to the T. Why I personally understand why I have chosen the T over a used 991.2 GT3 and 992 GTS I am curious to hear more testimony of your thoughts on now owning the T versus some of these other amazing variants that clearly have a ton more power and more track appeal. I have a race car and didn't want a race car for the street. Again, would love to hear the good and bad about the T and if you regret your choice etc.
I bought the T literally for touring. It's only going to be used for early morning canyon runs and road trips. I have a track car for track and a daily that suits the streets where I live better than any 911 except for the Dakar. I have a deposit on a GT3T that is at least a year away from allocation. The pedigree, tech, and soundtrack are appealing but the practical side of me says the T is enough. We'll see when I get the call and have to make a decision. As far as other Carreras or Turbos are concerned, they are overkill for me and my use. The T is not a "slow car". 400HP and 4 seconds is fast and the sweet spot for a street/spirited driving car. If I used the Autobahn every day, a Turbo might make sense. I'm going to start tracking once per month, and for that, the GT3 I own makes sense. But for daily or weekend use, the base and the T fit the bill and the rest of it seems to be just Porsche keeping up with the competition and its customers keeping up with the Joneses. I always chuckle when I hear someone say the base engine is not enough. I'd put money on the fact that 98% of them wouldn't know what to do if challenged to drive one at the limit of grip. Beyond the above, the T really appealed to me because, as I said before, it's not really the successor of the 70s T but a successor to the 3.2 Clubsport and love the thought behind that package. As opposed to the then Rennsport and now GT cars which are track oriented 911s that can be street driven, the Clubsport was the ultimate street car that was apt for track. In other words, focused on driving and no nonsense. I feel like I spec'd my car in line with that philosophy and Ferry's founding philosophy of performance through light weight and reliability. I skipped the things that complicate the car beyond the very sophisticated and intricate machine it already is, like RAS and FAL, and all of the modern conveniences like lane change and cameras that I don't want or need. So, though I only have 30 mins of seat time in it, it feels perfect for me and have zero desire for any other variant, except perhaps the GT3T and purely as an eccentricity.

I've been driving my T a couple of days a week but no way I hit the full break in at 3000 km for a few years, so I'm just gonna start driving it full out once warmed up. I also thought about getting a 296 or MC20 but then I remember how much of a pain cars like that are in the city, and every time I drive the T it reminds me it's the gem in the Carrera line up. So I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's going to be the Evo Car of the Year this year. Anyone want to take bets or show me a better car for the road?

I have done 2500km in 12 days, so it can be done fairly easy during the hols

The vehicle is getting better and better, it would be a shame to rush the meticulous prep for years of hassle-free motoring, unless it’s a flipper.

Good point on EVO, waiting in anticipation for the verdict.

The website states VIN Art is "only available in Germany".

Full list of confusion / reversed items:
1 Stick shift / gear lever
2 Paddle shifters
3 wipers
4 clutch
5 ignition
6 audio volume- opposite side of steering wheel
7 garage opener button - keep reaching up in my T like in Benz

I’m sure I’m forgetting others.
Yeah same here. 6 is the big one as the control is similar on my bmw but on the right side.

A bunch of random thoughts...

My T took over as shop vehicle today - had to run out and replace the battery for the SUV. So naturally I picked a costco two states away. Well not really two states, but there were 5 closer than the one I picked. Of course I parked way out with no cars around. On the walk back with a new battery, I see a python green porsche driving off and my heart dropped. Second glace, it was a 718, not someone making off with my new T! Get home, install the new battery and go for a test drive. Lexus, SUV, auto, etc was all out of sorts.

The factory rubber floormats look like they will do the trick for me. Keep it simple and I like the 911 silhouette design on them too. And my AWE foiler wind diffuser shipped too. Can't wait to eliminate the open window buffetting!

And I think I found the stereo shop I'm going to use in Denver. Turns out they worked on my brother's '88 911 and he was really happy. Sounds good and clean install for him. I'll do a consult with them first to see what simple fixes they recommend but they seem like the shop that would work with me (try this first, then add this if the first step wasn't enough, etc).

The trunk is nice and deep. Took me a few tries to master the comfort open gesture. Has anyone accidentally hit the red alarm button? It's a show and will get people's attention. Much better than on my other cars.

This combination goes great with Shark Blue interior inlays, if you're good with not-subtle. Cain Bochter at PCNA Exclusive Manufaktur in Atlanta had recommended this combination to me, and I love it!
NICE! I'm getting the shark blue belts, standard stitching (gray/black or whatever), and body color inlays for console and dash (Gentian Blue). So it'll be interesting to see the contrast of the different blues, especially considering I'm going to be getting cocomats at some point and would rather not have yet a 3rd shade of blue in the car.

@ductail In answer to your original question and picking up on what @Wilder has said above;

Now I have finished the break in period and started to push the car I would say the T is a great road car with a good level of performance. If you want to do occasional track days it will cope admirably but if you want to do regular track work I'm not so sure. I think you will soon want more. I haven't been on track with mine yet but I have done a lot of track driving (I was Marketing Director of a Group of Motor Racing Circuits in the UK) and if that is what you want to do then I would opt for a used GT car or even GTS over a new T. Ultimately it all comes down to what you want the car for...

You can track a T but I wouldn't buy one for frequent track work. T could potentially be enough (don't know) on small technical tracks. GTS and Turbo would do well, the Turbo possibly better than a GT3, in tracks with long sections.

All this talk about the T not being ideal for track use versus something with more power seems off base to me. I base my statement on the fact that the Miata is one of, if not the most raced cars in history. I've personally been behind a Miata spec car with my CGTS4.0 and had trouble keeping up. I'm an amateur. My point is that for many, most even, it's more about the driver than the car.

Sure, you may want to upgrade brakes, tires, etc. But I'm not sure you need to trade a T for a GT car unless you want to.

Depends on the track. Miatas do great on small technical tracks. Try putting a Miata at Spa. Also, the Miata doesn't weigh 3k+ lbs. It's not about power. It's about the power to weight ratio. Like I said above, the T could keep up with GTS, Turbo and GT3 on small technical tracks but not on tracks with large straight sections.

Default Interior Trim in Exterior Color

My single favorite option is interior trim in exterior color- **for GT silver**

So glad I selected it at the last minute. Really gives a little pop to the otherwise very dark interior, and works very very well against the “Dark Silver” trim default on the T.

If I was specc’ing any other Pcar, I’d select dark silver trim as well, I like it a lot more than the light silver.

I probably wouldnt do the Interior/exterior trim with any other color (personally), but with “neutral” GT silver it works very well.

Note the longhorns, these are quite rare. Had to pull over for the shot.
