So you fell for the purposefully ugly camouflage panels on the test car and that kept you ordering the old one. That worked well for them then. I always wondered who actually fell for that. Within weeks of the lovely new facelifted Cayenne being released your new car will look dated, will be significantly devalued and you’ll wish you’d waited.
You’ll soon see how their concentration is distracted when everybody who’s been waiting 12 months already for a MT GT3, GTS or S car is now held up further because Porsche are out of MT box parts because they pushed to get the new run of first T’s out the door at the expense of everything else.
Some people are just so naive and shortsighted on these threads it constantly amazes me.

It's odd the press release has LWBs but the configurator does not.
Also unfortunate they don't have fabric door pulls, but that's more aesthetics than anything. It would have been cool if they offered old school door handles (ie GT3RS) but that would be pushing it, I know.
A lightweight, louder Carrera with sports suspension, MT and unique trim pieces with the option for LWB and PCCB is what made the original T an interesting option.
So far - the T available on the NA configurator is not the same car.

I agree - would LOVE the fabric pulls on this one.
It’s not the same as the 991 T - but it’s still pretty rad!
Read the car will have buckets - maybe just not on the configurator yet?
My last T had buckets. They looked cool and I told everyone they were comfortable BUT I was LYING! Those seats hurt after a long drive. I’d order them again though 😜

Some cool facts about the 991.2 T:
Porsche never released official data to my
knowledge, but it is rumored only Nine Hundred and Eleven Carrera T's were produced for the USA. True? Maybe?
Lightweight GT2 rear glass, less sound deadening, a lack of rear seats, limited-slip differential, fabric door pulls, bucket seats, short throw shifter, lowered suspension and so on, aims to create the enthusiast's 911...they F’ed up not giving us a 6 speed and NA 4.0 but you cant have everything!
Porsche wanted to name it "Clubsport" after its spiritual predecessor, the 1987 911 Carrera 3.2 Clubsport, but BMW owns the trademark on that name these days. "T" is what they had left."
"Achleitner said in 2017 that the GT3 Touring Package was Porsche's response to 911R prices skyrocketing. But even that was an expensive, limited-production car--just not quite as expensive or limited as the R. As a result, he'd been fielding requests for a more affordable 911 that got some of the same treatment as the R. His answer was the Carrera T."
The 991.2 T was:
- last narrow body 911
- last w. proper door handles
- last with a real key
- Car & Driver has the Carrera T Manual hitting 0-60 in 3.7 seconds
- In Car & Drivers Lighting Lap the Carrera T with 370 HP beats the (then) new M5 with 615 HP
- The 2018 model year Carrera T celebrates the 50th anniversary of Vic Elford winning the Monte Carlo Rally in 1968 with his 911T. Porsche had a red 2018 T built commemorating that anniversary
I think we’ll see some cool new facts come out surrounding the new 992 T.

For that drive ratio alone, I think the 991T would hold value better. That made the 991T actually get better acceleration. In this iteration, it’s all up to weight savings for performance. If you add the rear seats that advantage is gone too. So it’s a base with a few performance check boxes and a manual transmission option.

Here's my very restrained GT Silver UK build: http://www.porschecode.com/PPS1X6L1
I put an order in last November for a T so I'm hoping I'm near the front of the allocation queue!
Just trying to finalise the spec on mine as the dealer has been back in touch today.
I will go for the green T interior and a Racetex wheel (which I assume makes the shift surround Racetex also?).. I can't decide whether to have the armrest and roof lining in Racetex too..
On the roof lining is there anything different about the standard one in the T vs what's in a boggo Carrera2 in terms of weight/noise reduction/finish etc? I like the idea of the Racetex stuff but feel the roof liner is expensive and I'll probably spill stuff all over the armrest!
I'm not even speccing folding mirrors / reverse camera etc. Literally just putting the rear back seats in, roof transport prep at 42 GBP, GT Silver metallic and the Green T trim / Racetex wheel.. Am I mad and/or missing anything vital?
I have asked if adding the buckets will delay delivery (considering they aren't on the initial configurator).. If they are available I will add them and lose the green T interior pack (and the rear seats too of course) as I like the idea of changing the bucket inserts around for pepita / tartan etc down the line.

My build. Carmine is just a placeholder for Ruby Star Neo and will add buckets when they become available.

I didn't fall for anything. I can see right through the camo to see 95% of what the final car would be. The things I don't like are clearly visible; I just didn't go into them in this thread because, well, it's not a Cayenne thread. But no, it's pretty easy to spot the all digital dash (I like the analog tach better), the license plate moving to the bumper (don't like it, can see what it looks like on the coupe) and revised center console with the digi-shifter. Don't have to be a genius to make out those changes, eh? Think what you want but I'm not a rube. Also, the new car adopts the sports front fascia as standard and guess what...I bought that! So my car won't look dated. Whooppee! Gee maybe I'm not an idiot?
Significantly devalued. LOL. I had no time frame to order either car. We easily could have waited and kept driving our 2014 Cayenne. Which, BTW, I still think looks better than the 2016 refresh thank you very much. We ordered the one we wanted. At the end of the day we'll keep this car probably another 7-9 years, and the new car will likely cost more too so what's that actually going to do to the "value" of our car? Absolutely NOTHING significant. In that time, if we go to sell it or trade it will it be worth thousands less? Hell no.
Some people on these threads think that their opinion on life applies to everyone else and they are smarter than everyone else never ceases to amaze me.

Three Wheelin'
Why wouldn't someone spec the rear seats then simply remove them? It seems like a no brainer so that if you ever change your needs you can simply reinstall them. I'm sure they are expensive to buy on their own.

The seatbelts are more complex to remove, and do contribute the the extra weight of the rear seats.

I was concerned about that until I actually got the car as Porsche doesn't appear to make it clear. You can see the heating element (it's a mesh like pattern) in the right light at the right angle.

I think everyone is assuming it's the same as the S because porsche didn't highlight it as a change in the press release for the announcement
