I have had two 911s, one an early 1970s T and one a base 991.2. I don't believe I ever had anyone in either back seat. On the other hand, those with small children and limber wives find them useful. I would do without except for the possible unbearable noise issue on the highway. Another 1st world problem!

God bless you,
TT

I have been Guards Red from day one but having seen two in Carmine I’m feeling very very tempted! I’m booked to test drive a GTS 4 in Carmine with rear steer… having only ever driven non-RAS I need to know how it feels! I’ll see how the colour looks on my drive too! 😀

Ah, I am now the exact opposite! I love my cayman in carmine and I have been carmine red since day one BUT now tempted to go with guards red to get a more classic/sporty looking/"ethos" build. Plus, the grey accents have a little more contrast and pop with guards red. Please take some pics and let us know your thoughts on the RAS!

I've ALWAYS wanted a guards red 911, but now I'm going to get PYTHON GREEN 💚 for ethos purposes. And I like being different.

Always good to be different, plus its the launch color! Also congrats on your allocation! Which dealership are you working with in LI? I hopefully will be hearing from Gold Coast today

Huntington. They got two allocations. They got me my CGTS last year before Gold Coast could, and for less money 🤑

Alright folks, it is coming time for me to lock down my build! Below is what I am fairly set on, would love to hear your thoughts/suggestions as this will be my first Porsche. I know it is against the ethos, but I am particularly interested in your thoughts on resale.
  • Shark blue
  • Leather interior (no T package)
  • Rear seats
  • Sunroof in glass
  • full sport design, including side skirts (the one option I have been going back and forth on)
  • roof transport prep (someday I'll take this skiing! I tell myself)
  • extended range fuel tank
  • prep for dashcam
  • storage package / smoking package (who doesn't love a free option!)
  • seat belts in shark blue

Regarding resale, I would buy it Also, dealers would allegedly be happier to buy it with it having a sunroof and rear seats. Looks like a solid build!

There's some reports the prep for dash cam is not actual wiring for dashcams, but rather an extra fuse slot for it. Which is like a $4 thing without. I wish there was a clearer description on it, but $130 for an option on a 911 is pocket change.

And definitely take it skiing! Get winter wheels and tires for it and shred it up!

Haha thank you! And yes, I've seen some notes about the prep for dashcam being a bit of a waste, I am going to go over it with my SA.

I never understood how people order the Race-Tex roof lining without ordering the Race-Tex sun visors as well. It looks horrible without them. The option is there for a reason. But most unbelievable is that you pay peanuts for sun visors in Race-Tex. Same for seatbelts and dials in color and Porsche logo on armcrest and some leather options as well. We are talking about $300. But if you want to order them afterwards you can pay up to $1500 for those same things that were 5 times cheaper when ordering directly. The dials cannot even be retro-fitted. So please just order those sun visors almost for free and don’t get yourself into trouble afterwards, just trust me on this one.

If you go for full leather: the lower part of the door is a must and the inner door sill guards (part of extended leather package with fuse box cover and interior mirror panel). This cost only around $1000 but if you would do it afterwards around $6000! Steering column casing is a must and pretty cheap.

Dashboard in leather however is not a great option and way overpriced. On the 991.2 the price was the same but you would get the full dash in leather with stichting everywhere. Around speakers etc. When putting gas in the car a beautiful look. On the 992 only the small part around the sportschrono is leather stitched. The rest is not so bear that in mind. I would invest that money in the sportseat backrest in leather.

I personally also love the air vent in the middle surrounded in leather especially with the contrast stitching. This is one of the nicest leather options available but you don’t see it much because some people confuse it with the other vents in leather. If you need a picture let me know. Since I have not chosen the contrast stitching I did not go for these options.

And what a lot of people don’t know is that there is a big (!) difference in stitching depending if you chose the contrast stitching or the standard leather with stitching in slate grey. With the latter not all stitching is in that colour but many parts are in black leather so make sure to add the interior trim package with decorative stitching in contrasting color if you want the full monty.

Remember that the driving characteristic of the 4 is way different than that of the 2. So ideally you would need to try the RAS with RWD to have a proper opinion. Can’t wait to hear you’re experience though. I love it on my 4S.

There really isn’t that big of a difference. Most won’t/can’t notice a difference on a regular test drive, even one where you are moderately pushing it. At the limit there is a difference, even then I wouldn’t characterize it as “way different.”

We need that blindfold test mentioned awhile back to include this.

😂 So today I went into the dealership to drop them in a Christmas card and some wine and ended up in big debate with my sales guy, the dealer principle, the service manager, and a pal who has a stunning all black 2022 GT3 Touring… I’m back on Guards Red! I love the guys at my local, they make it more like a club than a dealer!

I booked the GTS 4 for the 28th and I’ll let you know. The general feeling was I should include RAS; my pal is an extremely expert and skilled driver and he tracks his GT4 RS and this GT3 Touring regularly… he said I should definitely include it, especially as I’m going for the racer feel with carbon roof and manual with rear seat delete.

I almost went back to considering the rear seats, but my sales guy is also a solid Porsche owner and fan, said even though you technically don’t benefit from half of the leather upgrade, he said it will potentially make it even more desirable because less of them will exist! Interesting view point.

The DP did really like GT Silver and said having just seen a 991 T in that combo he just said it looked timeless despite being 4 years old. I’m settled on Guards Red now though! 😂
