Default Wheel spacers? Yay or nay?

992 Carrera S. Anyone add spacers? If so, where did you get them? Anyone that decided against it, why not?

I skip them, because I don’t like the increased likelihood of rock chips.

+1

Also, these cars drive incredible out of the box. I wouldn’t want to risk any change in driving dynamics. YMMV

5 mm Porsche spacers front and rear on 992 C2S

Just came back from a 2,500-mile trip through the Shenandoah and Appalachian mountains and then some touted Ohio backroads.

Regularly saw 1.1 g's in less than perfect conditions (dusty roads, temperatures from 30's to 60's).

Handling and steering are still great; oversteer remains easy to control, and no vibrations at 100 mph.

Tires are worn out from the switchbacks, but the wear is even.

Spacers have downsides (you are changing steering offset and spindle length), so moderation is important.

Aesthetically, I do think the car could use some spacers. The front wheels, especially.

5mm should avoid any big issue with vibration, assuming you install them carefully. You don't want to be too aggressive on spacers - flush fitment without a drop ends up looking like a truck.

They changed the offsets for the front wheels of the 2021s for the 20/21" wheel sets.

I have read some reports of Porsche dealers returning serviced cars with the spacers removed (and left in the car for the customer).

I’m not thinking anything too aggressive. 5mm in front. 7mm rear. Had them on my 2013 Carrera S and had no issues. Porsche offers OEM spacers on other 911s including 991s. Why is it now an issue on 992s?

Is that right? Do you know what they went from and what they went too offset wise? Where did you learn this?

Thanks!

“The following optional wheels now have an adjusted offset in the front from the previous ET53 to ET50 for a more aesthetically pleasing flush look
• RS Spyder Design
• Carrera Classic
• Carrera Exclusive Design“

3 mm difference. Not huge, but maybe *just* enough to notice.

I'm still annoyed that they would change this within one model year.

Ive never really had good experiences with spacers. Every set Ive ever had on cars from Subarus, BMW's to Porsches all shook the steering wheel to some degree at 80mph or more. This time around I will put that money towards some flow form wheels with a nicer offset.

Someone posted a Porsche 2021 Model changes guide a couple weeks ago. It showed that Porsche changed front wheel offsets slightly VS 2020 models. They reduced offsets by 2-3 mm further pushing the front wheels out from the hub. I believe offsets were 52mm or 53mm, and they are now 50mm
