It's standard on all 2021 992, most 2020 cars have it. Search for 'Comfort Access'.

Yeah car recognizes me as I approach...doors unlock as long as I have the key on me and I just get in and turn the fob. Different thing on the 992 vs 991 was you could take the comfort access fob out of the ignition and use the key if you wanted...my SA said that is no longer the case with the 992 and Comfort access is permanently installed. Otherwise it works pretty seamlessly. Enjoy it.

On 2020s there's a toggle in a PCM menu to turn on/off Comfort Access. On my car the system is so flakey I'm at the point I'd ready to turn it off permanently, but my wife likes it. I think the difference in tolerance level for Comfort Acess flakiness is that with it off I just reach in my pocket to use the key while she has to locate and dig out the key from her purse.

That's definitely an advance on the MY20 cars, we have to touch the underside of the door handle to unlock it, like on a Mercedes for example. It works most times first go for me.

I was reading it can unlock your car as you approach it. But can’t make it work that way

The comfort access feature seems to have mixed results for people. I've now owned two 992's and on both the feature works only about 30% of the time. I finally decided that the security risk outweighs the intermittent benefit and disabled it in PCM. One thing to know is that the key has a motion sensor and goes into a sleep mode if motion is not detected for a certain period of time as a security mechanism.

mine works 95% of the time. It all depends where your key is in your pocket and how far from your car you stand when you approach the door handle. Normally in the pocket of your trousers when you go cyclise to the door handle it works well. I do like how the bonnet opens with a wave and the fact that you don’t need to put a key in the ignition to start the engine.

In a 992 you cannot remove the key from the ignition. It's a fixed item, all 992's have that.

i assumed it was an option for comfort access only. So interesting to know. So the key fob only unlocked the door and then you start the engine which is cool. That wasn’t the case in the 911.2 I had before

Yep, it's still a lever you need to twist though. Not a button like in most cars.

Default Entry Drive

Booked into the dealers and looked like a faulty door sensor in the door dealer no replacing the door handle which includes the sensor apparently

my comfort access does not recognise me when I approach the car. It just reacts when I put my hand in the door handle. Could there be an issue with my car?

My MY20 992 with Comfort Access doesn't unlock automatically as I approach, i.e., I have to first put my hand under the door handle to initiate the unlock (and it still fails to unlock some percentage of the time). A few 992 owners have reported that their door handles pop out automatically as they approach, but I think this is not how Comfort Access works for most of us. Right?

right. My 2020 has never unlocked as I approach, always need to place my hand under the handle.
