2020 cabrio model delivered August 2020 and it states in the manual can automatically unlock from a distance of 2 metres. Provided the manual is correct this feature is not a 2021 model feature. But I cannot make it work in my car!! My manual’s date is November 2019! Any idea if this feature is broken then?

Not my understanding, some owners reported this on their 2020 cars as well. It just seems inconsistent, some do and some don't.

Very early 2020 models did have this feature, but Porsche quickly discontinued it. I wouldn't want it for security reasons.

My C2S was built in January, 2020, does not have this feature, and there is no mention of it in my owners manual. I wonder if somehow you got an early 2020 owners manual?

Ditto with my January 2020 build.
On a side note, I've seen spotty performance using Comfort Access with door handles (pretty consistently works on the frunk). During my last car wash on Friday I thoroughly cleaned under the door handles, and over the weekend the system seemed less flakey.

June, 2019. Maybe your November, 2019 manual anticipated this feature being added later in the 2021 model?

hard to say. Model year 2021 starts production in sept 2020, so can’t see why they will put in the manual instructions for a model that is 10 months away from production.

I am also UK based so there are subtle differences for each market.

I checked my car (March/May COVID build) and you're right - the unlock as you approach feature isn't in the manual or mentioned anywhere in the settings. Instead it says the handle should extend as you approach but will unlock when you pull the handle; the "unlocking on approach" section is removed. Mine doesn't do either though.

This did highlight one other aspect of this system though; it is disabled after you lock the car until the key is taken some distance from the car, likely 6 metres as mentioned in the earlier version of the owners manual. I can vouch for this at least for my car; I tried to open the car again after locking it and needed to use the key.

Here is a copy of the page from my owners manual:

Hey - one more thing. When I started the PCM and dove into the settings to check this, the 2021 ambient lighting option popped up. I pressed it and got a 'not yet enabled' message or something similar, and after a few seconds it disappeared. But begs the question, what else is displayed briefly as you start the system? PSE on a non-PSE car maybe? MMmmmm.....

You have the June, 2019 manual like mine. It doesn't say that the handle extends as you approach the car--only when you "grasp into the handle recess of the door handle". You can download both the June, 2019 and the November, 2019 in the Porsche Good to Know app--shows effective 1/21/20 and 2/21/20 respectively. Not sure why they came out with two only a month apart. Only the November one has the section about unlocking on approach and the 6 meter distance disabling feature you mention. I can unlock my car immediately after locking it via comfort access--I don't have to ever use the key.

That's not how I read this, it implies that the handle extends before you grasp the handle. But either way they clearly have had some issues with the system so lets hope they've got it right with the MY21 cars.

The way I read this is that items 1 and 2 are an explanation of the checked paragraph above them. Item 1 states that "the vehicle is unlocked and the door handle extends" when you grasp into the handle recess, not before, and this is how mine works.

Absolutely right, not worth the security risk. If you live in an area with high rates of auto theft you should really consider disabling comfort access all together. I remember watching a 992 review of a euro spec car and the reviewer mentioned that to enable it you had to sign a waiver (I think it was in the UK). Or just get an MT.
