I could be 1000 times wrong, but that’s what I suspect.
Absolutely correct and very observant. If you peer under the front bumper of your 992 you will see a series of holes molded into the bumper courtesy of Porsche. Our mount takes advantage of these holes and mounts a spring loaded assembly fixing the mount to the underside of the bumper in 6 different locations. This makes for a very firm and secure fixing that has been high speed tested to ensure stability and reliability. We have been using the same design concepts for many years in the Ferrari world with no issues of plates flying off or moving from their set location. Our engineering company supplies to the OEM and we apply the same principles and manufacturing practices to our Carbonio branded license plate mounts. For this reason they are primarily sold through OEM dealerships who appreciate the factory quality fit and reliability we offer.

Heavens NO. Our whole mandate is to never have to drill holes. When we say 'NO DRILL' we mean it

I have adapotive cruise control so I have the big black ball in the middle of my lower grill. Does anyone know if I can disable the big black ball’s function so I can use this front plate holder and I’m not constantly hit with “car in front too close” warning on the dash?

Interesting design. Id worry them clamps would damage the paint.. I used this and 3M auto tape (didnt use the bolts) to appease no front plate fix it ticket I received. It held perfectly (right under the front bumper middle opening) for months on end until I removed it again. Total all in cost was 20 bucks.

Amazon Amazon

Pardon the sarcasm, but no one here is poor, and our 911's are an unnecessary extravagance. So if you can afford a 911 and need a front plate, this is not an unreasonably priced option compared to the prices Porsche charges for their options. Just my 2 cents as I wait for my 911 to be released from captivity.

Do you really want to give up on your ACC functionality? Their web page anyway says this plate mount is not for 992s with ACC:

*Only for vehicles WITHOUT the optional active cruise control. Cars with active cruise control have a large round dome in the middle of the front bumper above the lower lip. If you car has this dome our mount will NOT work on your car.

Yeah, thanks, been there and that’s why I ask if it can be disabled for times I NEED to have my front plate on.

Maybe a slight "adjustment" to the plate itself would work with ACC?

(Not a serious thought BTW.)

I doubt it would, like the parking sensors, I’m sure these sensors are also very sensitive with a huge field of “view”.

Some clever photoshop skills to try and get around the forward ACC sensor

While our mount will fit an ACC equipped bumper we have not been able to establish if the sensor can be turned off or how wise it would be to do so.

Carbonio,

Would you be willing to do a Group Buy if we can commit x number of people?

Would that be possible if you can show us a picture of how it looks like from the PCM screen inside the car? I’d like to have an idea how it is in the front camera view. Thanks.

Here is a photo of the mount off of the car. As you can see the rearward section mounts itself to the underside of the bumper using a spring mechanism that hooks onto 6 points (4 in front and 2 in back). This rearward section acts as the foundation for an adjustable articulating mechanism that can be set to different nose profiles offered on the 992.

I do not have a photo of the forward camera view however I can say that with a USA sized license plate fitted and with the plate set to a vertical position, the view from the camera is not blocked. The little bit of the plate that is visible is inside of red distance warning line that is marked on the screen.
