Default Radiator Screens

The recent post about radiator damage reminded me about my thoughts on how vulnerable the low bumper intakes are for stone and debris entry. I did a little research, and discovered that there are screens available for the 991. Anyone aware of a product for 992?

Yes there are Zunsport makes the best plug and play ones. I had them both on my 991 GTS and I have them on my 992.

Would you mind posting a picture of the 992 with them?

I believe that they are only available if you have the sport design front bumper. Please prove me wrong as I have been looking for some as well and don't have the sport bumper.

Here’s a link to their website—and it is only for the Sport Design (at least right now).

Wow, they are super easy to install (see video). It’s no wonder that they are sold out at the moment.

Even though standard bumper with active aero protects the rads part of the time, I'll be looking for a solution that can be mounted behind the moveable slats to protect all the time. I wasn't happy with the commercial offerings with my last 911, so built my own...may do that with the 992 as well.

Too bad there aren't some wire mesh guards that attach directly to the radiators like I have on my motorcycles. Certainly can't install screens in the openings on the standard bumper because of the active louvers.

Attaching directly in front of the radiators - rather than behind the louvers - might be the way to go. I'm confident something can be rigged up, and it'll be one of my first DIYs when I get the car. We have a TON of rocks on the roads here year-round, and leaving rads exposed is an invitation for a hefty repair bill.

so do these exposed radiators get "destroyed" without a grill in front of them and is this something that "every" owner should install?

Thanks for the picture. Looks very hidden on your car. I couldn't tell how obvious they would be based on the web site pics. Certainly would go with the black look like on your car.

jkwb, I got my car in late September it was one of first deliveries, I talked to the guys at Zunsport to get on list for them. I put them on my 15 GTS after seeing so many cars where the rads where beat up and debris in the wholes. The are so easy to instal they are great quality. They sent email they shipped here in 2 days. Very easy to work with. If you look there is a 20% coupon code.
you will like them and do look nice

I can only imagine how much it will be to fix if that center eye for the cruise control gets nailed.
