Ah ok. In my original post I said I was waiting for my blendmount wiring. I should have clarified. I assumed people knew what that meant

Do those spades ever fall out?
Splicing seems more secure

So how did you get a coilly blendmount wire?

Splice if you feel better
15 years of using this, no. I also use a small zip tie to secure it to adjacent wires.

What coily wires? Lol put on your glasses.

The mirror hanger mount looks pretty cool! Better than the standard suction cup mount.
What's the rectangular device on the windshield?

msile, thanks for posting what you did, i was able to follow your path and get the mirrortap wire in and it works well. How did you go about then routing the mirrortap wire by the base of the mirror, i dont see an easy gap to just snake it through - did you remove another panel? any advice appreciated, thanks!

Really useful post - thank you 🙏
i got a bit carried away ‘breaking’ down my mirror console and bailed out when I managed to pull the mirror support off its bayonet - maybe the pics I took will be of interest 🤪

Glad to help
Go to post #1 and take a look at my label for "2"
Now go to post #30. Take a look at where the wire is coming out of the console. This is the same part. Slide in a pry tool from the front to open up a gap and snake it through there. You don't have to take this part off.

No had a fright with mirror and $5k worth of wiring dangling off the windscreen. I’ll have another go with the OP method - really would like to go for fuse box but the A pillar looks tricky - presume it’s the same fixation as the 991.2

Yes. Follow my original install. No need to run a long wire to the fuse box. The cord I used has a built-in fuse. See link.

Thanks for all the guidance on this thread, super useful and easy to follow!

Finally got it all setup with my Uniden R7 installed, Following the original post from msile and this post to remove the 2nd part :

I used a small flat eyeglass screw driver to get between the seam on the front side and worked my way around slowly popping it out of the tabs from left to right, and then swinging the cover down to uncover the torx screw

After unscrewing the torx screw i slid a plastic card along the front of the light housing to pop out the 2 tabs as indicated in the earlier post. Then i removed the power connector from the light panel

I think followed the earlier instructions and popped the blue cable on the right out of the plastic holder in the roof

I then slid in the blendmount mirrortap wire (black goes into the clear middle wire, and red goes into the white wire)

then on the plastic along the windshield i slid in a pry tool and pried it loose (eventually i slid it forward towards the glass to remove the covering). I then ran the mirrortap wire through the backside and re-mounted the plastic cover sliding it in front to back, back into the tabs

Final look from the driver side

Final look from passenger side

Overall process was straightforward though a bit scary at first pulling the front mount forward and getting resistance, I was afraid i would pull too hard and break a tab - the key is to slide it forward rather than pull down too much.

Besides that, the longest time spent is probably just tinkering with the exact angles of the mount itself.
