Default Does Anything Work Well on This Car?

This is starting to be a joke. Let's see,
1. The Homelink is a disaster
2. The door handles are annoying at best
3. Two dials are obstructed by the steering wheel
4. The comfort access is hit or miss
5. Carplay is buggy
6. Burmeister and Bose makes the doors and dash buzz
7. The front park assist cameras give a highly distorted view
8. The A.S.S needs to be deactivated with each start up (if you want to deactivate it)
9. The Porsche Connect App is problematic
10. Everyone feels that the Night Vision Assist is useless.
11. The cupholder location is intrusive, especially with the manual

So what technologies actually work great on this car? I mean other than the engine, transmission, and handling? I honestly have not see one post about a technology on this car that works as advertised or that is at least as good as you'd get on a Honda. And I'm not asking about what you can/choose to ignore or tolerate (like the obstructed dials). What technology on this car is actually designed really well and works at least as good as it would on a Honda?

None. This car isn't for you. Buy a Honda.

No. I put a deposit down, but I'm really scared to actually lock it in based on everything I see. There is no way I will buy a 2020. Hopefully when the 2021 models arrive, I'll be comfortable enough to pull the trigger, but this is ridiculous. I'm trying, really trying to love this car, but all the bugs scare the crap out of me. When I bought my Boxster, there were close to zero issues or complaints. It was the same with the 991. I don't recall anything close to this. It's a serious question.

The car is basically perfect. I have no issues or complaints whatsoever. Approaching 3,000 miles and grinning ear to ear.

HomeLink? Seriously, who cares. My garage doors use a crazy sophisticated system that’s incompatible anyway.

Having spent quality seat time in the past 3 generations of 911s — all wonderful cars, this latest generation is the best 911. Period. At least until the next generation lands, because every 911 generation has been better than the previous.

11. The cupholder location is intrusive, especially with the manual

You make that assertion with no evidence. The MT isn't out yet.

Yep...and the car comes with a storage bin that you can use in place of the cupholder, if you can't get past the utility of it.
As an actual 992 owner, given the downward slope of the console, I don't think that there will be any issue with it when the manual arrives.

lol - fair enough. i do not have any expectation of porsche fixing the shortcomings of their infotainment/ui/ux any time soon if ever. that will not stop me from buying and enjoying the hell out of the cars. if your first priorities are cupholders and homelink, buy a bimmer - you'll be a lot happier.

if you are buying the 911 for what it is, an *amazing* driver's car, then there isn't a better option that i've yet come across.

I agree with all of your statements and for the most part they are correct. However I didn't buy this car for the technology. The priority for me was driving characteristics of which for the most part are spot on. If you want technology get a Tesla- can't beat their software or AutoPilot. Want better open air experience get a bicycle. Want in your face experience get a Lambo. Want the ladies get a Gulfstream and on and on. Life is too short to be nagging all the time.

OP is behaving like a toddler having a tantrum, the post was never going to be constructive. There are actual useful posts discussing problems with the car and potential fixes, this is a rant from someone who doesn't even have the car. The responses are to be expected, and your attempt at taking the high ground is a bit cheap.

I was sceptical of the veracity of your post as you don’t actually own one of these cars... but you referenced the proverbial “everyone” so of course that changes everything

Are you joking? I just test drove one on two occasions and was floored with the tech on this thing... Sure I ordered some extra stuff but the car I drove had all but the night assist and all worked just fine.

As for buggy stuff.. well it is a Gen 1 992.. my Gen 1 BMW 540 also had some bugs that were fixed with software updates... that's what happens when you're an early adopter .. As we speak right now they are doing a software recall on 279 cars waiting to be delivered due to some improvement to certain features.. this is what happens when you buy a high tech car and buy it as soon as it comes out.

The car is essentially perfect.

Sometimes folks that contribute to online discussion boards can be a bit overly critical, and sometimes people will focus on small issues instead of the bigger picture. This is my second 911, and I've owned BMWs, Mercedes and Audis in the past. I have never owned any true exotic cars like a Ferrari, etc.

1. It's a very, very fast car. 0-60 in about 3 seconds. Insane!
2. It handles so incredibly well. It goes where you want it to go. So much better than most cars, and its not even close. Such an absolute pleasure to drive.
3. The brakes are insanely good. Not many people talk about the brakes, but there is so much confidence when braking the car and it feels like the pressure from your foot is pushing on the brake calipers directly.
4. It is simply gorgeous (subjective). Its classy, timeless, sexy and understated.
5. It is a comfortable and relatively reliable daily driver. Its luxurious, but not over the top.
6. The visibility is fantastic. You don't feel trapped as you would in a Corvette, Lamborghini, or many other great sports cars. This, for me, makes driving such a pleasure.

Okay, so it has a few technical quirks and the nitpickers are all over that on this site. But if you're excited about getting one, don't wait. Life is short!
