18 way seat mod
While driving my new 992 with 18 way seats the past few months I found the seating position not to my liking. I was really getting annoyed over it. Selling my brand new dream car actually crossed my mind. No matter how I adjusted it, the *** end was always too low and the front end too high. Upon further review I discovered I could remove the bolts, add a spacer to the rear and install longer bolts. I am happy to report it is now 95% better. For those curious, the original bolts were M10 X 1.5 X 30mm. New ones I got off Amazon are 55mm long. The spacers are 3/8 flat washers stacked 1 1/4", 17 washers each side. I wrapped the washer stack with electrical tape for ease of installation. Now if I crank the rear up all the way, the headrest can actually hit the headliner, so that is something to be aware of.

Sonim going to be "that" guy. I think in an accident you have the possibility of having a worse to much worse day. Those screws and washers aren't going to avoid the laws of physics and your back is likely not going to appreciate it. I'd at least replace with a solid piece of metal bar stock.

Your car so mod it how you like. But, low a$$ with higher front supports the mid - lower thigh for track driving.

After a month with it, I still can’t find a comfortable/proper seating/driving position either… seems weird with 18 fricken ways to adjust it and still can’t get it to feel right. Plus the steering wheel is also not placed correctly no matter where I adjust that to, no place to even put your hands on it… annoying but I’m dealing with it. Maybe this seat trick will help but I doubt I’ll bother to do it

I personally hate seats without layback, like the Porsche buckets. Funny enough a couple of companies make spacers for the front of the buckets to give them layback because a flat mounted seat is improper for comfort and support.

Interesting thread, just goes to show one size doesn't fit all. I find the 18 ways the most comfortable seats i've had in a car. I daily the car and have taken it on 800 miles (one day) trips. I had the 18 ways in my 991.2 but i always felt i couldn't get the seat low enough. (My previous car was a 981 Cayman GTS with the 4 way sports plus seats, and the 18 ways in the 991.2 felt higher) Many of the reviews i read of the 992 mentioned a very low sitting position. When i got in the car the first time picking it up at the dealer it was definitely lower than the 991.2, perfect, for me. I was also able to get the steering wheel in a perfect position. As mentioned above, raising the front of the seat makes a big different (and extending the bottom) for thigh support. I debated getting the carbon buckets (i already had spec'ed the lightweight package) but between a wonky hip and my significant other that would have been a non-starter. Anyway, the 18 ways have been perfect for me. Glad to hear for some where they aren't have found a viable solution.

It’s not like I don’t fit in the seat- I’m 5’11” and 175-180 so I fit well and they’re soft and comfortable. But the driving position is just bad between the seats, the steering wheel and visibility/view… just strange but workable. The steering wheel has nowhere to put your hands correctly either. Can’t even grab by the side spikes cos the little fake paddles are attached to wheel so you can’t wrap finger around it. Above that, arms get tire reaching up and feel awkward and holding the bottom of the wheel is just a bad idea

I respect the fact that the car seating design is uncomfortable for you. I get it. I've heard it before, but I think your solution has serious risk and liability potential should an accident of magnitude take place.
Car seat comfort and positioning is an important element in automobile design. It's one of many design considerations not the least of which is occupant safety and protection.
A car's seat, its positioning and anchorage is integral in the occupant protection system in order to withstand significant load and impact forces in the event of an accident.
Just my opinion - a washer stack wrapped in tape seriously compromises occupant safety.

This is one of the most dangerous modifications that I have seen posted to RennList. You've compromised the integrity of the seat in the event of a crash. You are putting way too much faith in the ability of those Amazon bolts to handle the unusual loads that you are subjecting them to here. The seat rail works by being bolted against the floor pan, not on a stack of washers at an angle.
I appreciate that you're not comfortable, but this isn't the way to solve the problem.
